Announcement    Welcome to my site!
I dreamed of being an artist since I was in my teens. As we all know, life is an evolution. So, as life would have it, I didn't begin working in clay until I was in my mid-thirties. Since then, I have been finding my own voice, loving the wheel throwing process, yet finding the carving to be my true path. Way back when, I began working in a studio tucked in the woods at my home. In the earlier days my pottery was only 'functional' with a huge dose of that nature. Then I moved my studio to the second floor of a woolen mill in town, nestled next to the Minnesota River, where I was able to stretch my wings. Oddly, yet ironically enough, my work had migrated over to cremation urns - at the very onset of the cremation awareness. I was comfortable in this kind of a conversation. Not all artists are.
Now, I have moved again. Still at the same site, but in a separate studio in another part of the mill. It is just as magical. Just as 'stretching', but with a more solid path in my journey.
My creations have come full circle. I still love creating the functional platters, bowls, sculptures, and lidded cremation urns.
More recently, my mission is to provoke people to carry out another aspect of life. Sharing the quiet stories. These are probably the ones that shape us the most deeply, as to who we become. You know those conversations. The ones we wish we could share, but haven't. Telling who we are and how we got here. Those stories. Maybe it is with mementos, or trinkets, or written passages. Whatever works for you. As they are all collected - and held - you are filling a vessel that resonates you. I call these "Living Journey" Vessels. For that is what they are. Living. Growing. Traveling through life. Just like us. Until we pass on to the next place. How you pass on this vessel is up to you. But one thing is for sure. It is a gift no one else can give to your loved ones. This is a gift of yourself!

I hope as you peruse through these pieces, you feel what I do when I create them. Reverence. Honor. Respect. Celebration. And I challenge you. To tell your story!
Thank you for visiting,
Living fully - carving a life.

The Soul Remains in Urns & Keepsakes

The Soul Remains in Urns & Keepsakes
Creating art is a very reflective, even spiritual process for me.
Acquiring a piece of art is also a reflection of who you are. What drives you. What is your core.
When selecting a piece, it may be for enjoyment in a favorite reflection spot, to house treasures or memories, as a gift, for its pure beauty, or a true honor: as a vessel to hold a loved one’s ashes.
Art is personal. It always has been. It represents the very essence of living and loving. And can be hard to search for.
I believe each piece should capture life through eyes of love, beauty, exuberance, and richness. To celebrate - life.

When you decide to purchase an artfully hand-crafted lidded jar or keepsake - for yourself - or for a loved one – fill the vessel with precious memories. This may mean momentos, notes, stories, or trinkets. The most important thing? Love.

My wish for you is that your search brings you exactly what you are looking for.

Living fully – carving a life,
Michelle at the Keyhole Studio

A bit about the shipping process.
Medium and Large Vessels: 275# double walled packing boxes are used, wrapping the vessels with organic cotton first to ensure no abrasion occurs from shifting during shipping. Self-expanding packing materiel offers solid and secure packaging around the vessel during shipment. The packaging foam will be in 2 or 3 sections dependent on the size of the vessel and box. The self-expanding packing can be reused for transporting the vessel whenever needing to be moved, however ‘shipments’ outside of returns are not recommended with the self-expanding packaging.
Smaller Vessels: Wrapped in organic cotton these parcels will be placed in a shipping container with cotton and peanuts to fill any voids and ensure safe shipping.

Bronze pieces: These are wrapped individually in cotton batting, and then placed in an individual hardboard box. Placed in a USPS small shipping box with organic cotton surrounding the individual box(es), up to 2 keepsakes can be packaged and placed inside of the small USPS shipping box.

All vessels will have full insurance during shipment.
International customs fees are additional and the responsibility of the recipient.
