I love this item as I am an ocean lover and it is a daily reminder of where I most feel grounded.. The Mermaid image is beautiful. Also, the Seller-Gigi, is amazing at Customer Service. Thank you, Gigi.
A Mermaid loves the Sea no matter where she ends up!
An Entrepreneur since age 10, Gigi's first "company" was making animals from seashells and selling them to the local gift shop on Cape Cod.
While she worked her day jobs, she was always busy at night, fist it was creating custom wedding invitations in the art of Calligraphy, then it was sewing clothes for her daughters Doll, which became a successful side business in the 1990s.She began painting and was a sought after custom artist on Cape Cod for decorative furniture and custom coastal paintings.
She was the official cape Cod Marathon race Artist for many years and made many commemorative posters for the event.
In 2000 her husbands job took her away from her beloved coastal views and (she thought) her creative style had dried up. No longer inspired by what she saw outside her window, her excitement to paint waned.
One day she poked into a small bead shop and as she walked around all the pretty crystals, she began to feel inspiration again. She started teaching herself how to wrap wire and how to solder sterling silver, She began making earrings for all of her friends. Before she knew it, this self taught girl was teaching others to make jewelry. Her favorite colors remind her of the sea, and her jewelry usually has a coastal theme.
In 2008 she opened her ETSY shop as the Midwestmermaid. Between that and the art shows she entered, Soon she had enough business to quite her "day job" .
In 2013 she began designing pieces to be cast in either sterling silver or pewter, so she could grow the business. Everything they sell is proudly made in the USA, and they still do custom pieces as needed.
