I am always glad to share my knowledge of my craft and each piece I make. There is a story behind everything!

TECHNIQUE & ARTISTIC DETAILS

Each of my hand crafted pieces and hand woven textiles is made with careful handwork and attention to form as well as well as function. Attention to detail and commitment to traditional artistry separate my hand woven textiles from many others. I work entirely with traditional hand and foot powered looms and hand tools. Each piece is a test and display of knowledge of materials, technical skills, imagination and artisanry.

PRODUCTION & DESIGN

Items are made one-of a kind, or limited quantities. Items listed here in my shop are ready for sale as described. I try to provide a sampling of choices within a style until they sell out. I am not a production artist, and do not wish to make 100s of the same thing. That is the art of the craft! Use the search button or links within the shop to find similar items, which may be offered in different sections. Please contact me if you cannot find something to suit your needs.

COMMITMENT TO CRAFT

I commit myself to my work with my hands, my heart, and with my time as a full-time professional occupation, not as a hobby. In doing so, I compete with machine-made products to earn a living wage to survive in our current economic climate. Consider these pieces as works of enjoyable, aesthetic art as well as lasting utilitarian, working craft, and you will find the long-term values they carry can far outweigh some of the costs of things in your everyday environment that may be much more temporary or disposable.

Enjoy Artful Living with simple, sophisticated and stylish textiles and home decor accents for both large and small scale. Give pleasure in the simplest of ways, highlighting holidays, celebrations and special occasions. Treat yourself, or give a gift that keeps on giving. I focus on classic patterns, colors, and textures that will fit in both traditional vintage or modern contemporary lifestyles and décor. Heirloom home decor furnishings, textiles, table linens & fashion accessories hand woven in natural cotton, linen, wool, alpaca & mohair, will last for years.

About

It's about the details....

Come let your imagination & whimsy wander through my door!

I've made miniatures since I was little myself, starting with a general store, which could fit anything I collected or made! I also created a bakery and made food to go in it, and then created a colonial bedroom from handmade furniture (some from kits, some from plans). All it takes is a little imagination, patience, skill and determination to make one's visions into reality.

All one needs is a space on a shelf or a small box to start collecting miniatures and creating a setting that makes you smile every time you pass by. Build upon that, and before you know it, you have a whole house or town! Some people make Fairy gardens, others make Victorian palaces… where will your imagination take you?

I was brought up to use my hands to create things around me, to do it if it needed to be done, learning as I go! I have worked in the arts over the years, for a local pottery, in woodworking and with needlework and love history. My passion for the fiber arts and textiles began at a very early age, eventually leading to an MS in Textiles and jobs in museums. I became a full-time weaver about 15 years ago, preferring a hands-on approach to my craft. When refurbishing a dollhouse for my nieces and nephews, I decided that I could make many of the textiles myself, weaving the rugs, building the furniture, among other things….

Please, take a few moments to browse my Miniature shop, link up & like me on Facebook or Follow me on Twitter. Skip on over to check out my Full-Scale Textiles & Weavings at http://etsy.com/shop/aclhandweaver or google me to find more! All homes, large or small, should have fine textiles and furnishings!

Frequently asked questions
Satisfaction

I believe every house should have unique quality handmade items. Miniatures are a quirk of the imagination, too! Each of my pieces is one-of-a-kind or limited editions made individually. Variations in color, textures, and patterns are part of the natural characteristics of the materials and processes. (& quirks are sometimes natural characteristics of the artist, as well!)

I hope you will be satisfied with the items you purchase for years to come! Please let me know if you have any questions, convo/email me before purchase if you are unsure about a product. I stand by my items for many years of use! I try to keep exchanges to a minimum, but mistakes do happen and sometimes details of items are not noticed before purchase.

Additional Payment Options

I also can arrange Layaway Payment schedules for some items if that is more convenient. I understand that while some of my items may seem expensive for initial outlay, they are also an investment in quality goods that will continue to give years of practical use and aesthetic pleasure. Please contact me if you would like more information on this option.

Shipping

Generally items ship within 2-3 business days after payment by USPS. Shipping & handling costs account for materials and time, as well as postage. Items purchased together will have separate shipping costs unless otherwise noted. Variables of shape, size, weight and value make it difficult and time consuming to have a numerous pricing scale and are reasons behind this standardized method used by many businesses. Rates may change without prior notice.

Please contact me if you are interested in arranging an international purchase so I can calculate fees, if I have not already. International customers are responsible for any customs fees, taxes, and duties associated with shipping & purchasing to their respective countries.
