Like many women, I've been compelled to create since I was a little girl. Growing up in Minnesota, I would spend the long winters indoors sketching, coloring, painting & dreaming. In high school I spent 90% of my time in the art department. After taking some time off between HS & college (and do I have stories that would curl your hair!) I attended the University of Iowa, majoring in Medieval History and Art. Not receiving a degree that would actually get me a JOB (....Medieval History may be fascinating, but not very practical.....) I became a professional Pastry Chef.

Even though I have loved my career as a Pastry Chef, through the years I have had many ideas of things I have wanted to create. I’ve had a lifelong obsession with beautiful fabric and have been collecting velvets and brocades for years, not knowing exactly what I would do with them, but SURE I would think of something! One day I was browsing a second hand store when I came across a couple of vintage celluloid purse handles. I bought them and said to myself “I could make handles like these out of wood & paint them in all sorts of designs.”

Now that I have retired from the food industry (after having made many great friends and having all kinds of adventures), I have finally resolved to jump off the deep end and start making my living from my artwork. I had already started a graphic arts business offering calligraphy & wedding invitation design (‘Calligraphics Studio’), so I have decided to branch out and offer purses and accessories as well, launching ‘Midnight Revels Designs’ to merge all my endeavors. More offerings to come!
