Michael è un artista che dipinge principalmente su tessuto da tappezzeria teso con colori acrilici. Cerca sempre modi per incorporare il motivo e la consistenza del tessuto nel suo lavoro, il che spesso infonde al pezzo un senso di stravaganza e meraviglia. Nato e cresciuto a West Chester, PA, si è trasferito nel New England per studiare sia alla Boston University che alla Rhode Island School of Design. Il suo percorso artistico è iniziato con penna e inchiostro prima di evolversi lentamente verso gli acrilici su tessuto. Oltre a essere un artista e un istruttore occasionale nel dipartimento CE del RISD, Michael è anche il comproprietario dell'agenzia di marketing MKT, dove detiene il titolo di Sorcerer of Artistry. È responsabile della supervisione di tutti gli aspetti del design, inclusi siti web, brochure, grafica per i social media e molto altro ancora.
A maggio 2021 Michael ha autopubblicato il suo primo libro per bambini, "Ella Lee in to Catch a Hummingbird". Ha ricevuto una menzione d'onore al Royal Dragonfly Book Award per i libri illustrati per bambini dai 6 anni in su. Raccoglie molte delle illustrazioni stravaganti di Michael. E a settembre 2024, Michael ha autopubblicato il suo libro per bambini successivo, "James's Book of Unscary Monsters", che presenta 18 dipinti originali su una combinazione di vetro acrilico e tessuto per tappezzeria.
Quando Michael non lavora, dipinge o insegna, lo si può trovare in bicicletta o in escursione con la moglie e i due bambini piccoli, oppure a leggere un fumetto di Batman.
Michael is an artist who primarily paints on stretched upholstery fabric with acrylic paints. He always looks for ways to incorporate the fabric’s pattern and texture into his work, which often infuses the piece with a sense of whimsy and wonder. He is an award-winning artist whose work has been recognized in a number of juried exhibitions throughout Southern New England.
Born and raised in West Chester, PA, he moved to New England to study at both Boston University and the Rhode Island School of Design. His artistic journey started with pen and ink before slowly evolving into acrylics on fabric. Besides being an artist and the occasional instructor in RISD’s CE department, Michael is also the co-owner of the marketing agency MKT, where he holds the title of Sorcerer of Artistry. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of design, including websites, brochures, social media graphics and so much more.
In May, 2021 Michael self-published his first children’s book, “Ella Lee in to Catch a Hummingbird.” It received an Honorable Mention Royal Dragonfly Book Award for Children’s Picture Books, ages 6 and up. It collects many of Michael’s whimsical illustrations. And in September, 2024, Michael self-published his follow up children's book, "James's Book of Unscary Monsters," which features 18 original paintings on a combination of acrylic glass and upholstery fabric.
When Michael is not working, painting or teaching, you can find him either biking or hiking with his wife and 2 young kids or enjoying a Batman comic book.
