Perfect for my charm bracelet. My family went to Wildwood every summer when I was a kid. Good times!
From Old World to New World to 'Brave New World': The Material Culture of Our Collective Consciousness
We are a hybrid family that come from a long history of pickers, artisans, bakers, milliners, antique dealers, gallery owners, and, well, outright hoarders (I prefer 'collectors,' but to each his own). Each particular branch of the family tree reflects the particular circumstance of that place and time, but whether Sicilian, Russian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, and who knows what else, all branches have one thing in common.
About four generations ago they all reached the shores of Ellis Island, as children and teenagers, some of them completely alone, with nothing more than their physical selves. No family heirlooms, no photographs, no books. They had nothing physical to pass on from the Old World, no objects to hold and bring back memories.
But the stories were not lost for lack of physical substance - our collective history was created, shaped, by the spoken word. As the stories are retold and reclaimed from one generation to the next, the words themselves begin to take on an almost physical form, with a density and volume of their own.
Each object, whether considered of great value or considered trash, has a particular history. It is in the physical holding of these objects that long forgotten stories can be heard, in the nooks and crannies, the little details, this and that marking or stain or tear. In this way, we recycle, figuratively and literally. While our particular past has taken form from words, objects start as something solid - it is up to the user, the collector, the picker, the very keen listener - to hear the wisps and words echoing from within the walls of their containers.
MillCreekCollective serves as a way for these objects to take on new uses, new lives - to keep on living, so to speak. Our goal is to contribute to the creativity energy out there, the energy that puts to work old ideas in a new, modern setting, that allows us to see old objects through new eyes.
It is my belief that the up-cycling of the past, so to speak, is what will get us through, as our natural resources continue to dwindle, and our collective subconscious continues to drool in its sleep. We need to wake up and realize that through the recognition of our past we will be able to create for ourselves a living future. Whether that take the form of big ideas, such as returning to the agro-forestry of the original ancestors of this land, or little things, like reusing that really neat piece of metal you found in the deserted lot of an old building for a piece of jewelry. The narrative will only continue in a positive direction if past stories are retold, reused, and recycled.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders
Yes, in certain instances where it is possible for me to customize / find a certain item for a seller, I am more than happy to do so.
I do my best to accurately report all sizes - if dimensions are not listed, please do let me know, and I will get that information to you ASAP. Also, I cannot guarantee 100% that an article of clothing that says size 'small' is actually going to fit as a 'small.' Similarly, ring sizes can be difficult to 'agree on,' depending on the method used to size the ring and / or finger, etc. I strive for the utmost in customer communication and happiness - I want you to LOVE your purchase. If you have ANY questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Gift wrapping and packaging
I package all of my orders with the utmost of care. If you would like an item gift wrapped, I am more than happy to do this for a slight additional charge to cover costs. However, I cannot positively guarantee that the item will arrive un-opened, as customs and USPS both reserve the right to unwrap any gifts they decide to screen.
