Calculated shipping for US customers defaults to first class for lightweight items. Upon checking out you'll have the option to upgrade to priority, which has always been my method. However, I love the option, especially for the tiny critters I sell that are so light weight. Now the shipping is truly customizable and if you don't need it as quickly, stick with first class. This is a great feature Etsy has added.

**PATTERNS: Due to questions concerning such, just a note that I do not currently sell my patterns. All of my items and designs are my own, not from any purchased pattern, and they are not for sale for personal or professional use at this time. Thanks!

This wonderful little guy will be doing double duty both as a gift and as a decorative 'gift topper' at an up coming shower for a soon to be mom. I chose a frog because the recipient's last name is "Lillie" (think "lily pad"... :) ) and well, what could be more appropriate than a frog? And he's perfect! The quality of the workmanship is excellent and he's just so darn cute. The seller delivered exactly as promised and my package arrived carefully and attractively packaged. Great seller. I would definitely order from her again. I couldn't be more pleased. Thank you!

About

From My Hands to Yours

I started my shop because someone saw me carrying one of my crochet/felted handbags. This girl, a 16 year old student I worked with at the time, asked if I'd ever heard of Etsy; I had not. I went home and looked it up and all sorts of possibilities loomed before me! I already had a name in mind; I'd sold a few of my bags locally under the Millie Fern label as Millie Fern was my great-grandmother. I began with bags but quickly turned to amigurumi plush toys. I started with bunnies, monkeys and turtles. Now I've added such things as three-toe sloths, ring-tail lemurs and otters! Often a new animal will come about from a custom request. This keeps it interesting and keeps me learning new techniques. I do create my own designs- I work in shapes. I don't write a pattern and then make an item.Rather, I make an item and write down what I'm doing after the fact. This way, as I increase the variety in my shop, I can make the animal again. Even though I recreate from the same basic pattern, each one still ends up with it's own unique look and personality. I've made 100s of plush toys, but when I attach the eyes and ears and that face comes together, I still smile. My joy from making them is what I want to pass on. I want someone to receive their Millie Fern box, open it up, pull off the bow and smile with delight at the fuzzy face staring back at them. That's always a good day, to have a client tell a story of why they chose my item, who it was for, and what kind of reaction it received. And often, people are giving Millie Fern items to adults. Adults don't expect to receive such an item, and I believe it brings a bit of joy. That's what I mean by From My Hands To Yours- I put myself into what I do. I want it to bring something special to someone else's life- in the simplest of ways, to bring just a bit of joy. Joy in the whimsical and cute and the idea that something three dimensional and cuddly was created from a ball of yarn by my two hands. And to toot my own horn just a little, recently, a staff member of The Martha Stewart Show found my shop and my giraffe and felted wool bunny were featured on an Etsy-related episode of Martha's show! Gotta love it. I've expanded the yarn love and have also discovered the joy of weaving- an entirely new way to play with yarn and my love of color and texture. It's like painting- only soft and fuzzy. Take a look!

Since childhood, I've been creating and crafting. I love to try new methods and mediums. In 2006 I found crochet and have enjoyed it ever since. I adore making amigurumi plushies and coming up with new animal designs!

I simply love to create. Crochet is one of my favorite ways to express creativity and satisfy my love of color and texture. Instead of repainting every wall and surface of my house whenever I get the whim, I crochet plushies and bags in vibrant color combinations instead! (though in reality, I've also repainted every wall in my house multiple times anyway).
I don't use anyone else's patterns. In fact- I don't use patterns at all. I simply do it and shape and create as I go. This allows me the freedom to make just about anything you might like! I'm always adding new options- but feel free to give me a custom request! I'm up for it!
Find Millie Fern Originals on Facebook! I love it when my clients post a pic of their Millie Fern plushie in their new home. See below for care instructions:

Wool Plushies: I recommend spot cleaning as needed or washing with this method: Use a delicates bag, delicate cycle, and cold water (warm/hot water will further shrink the wool). Reshape as necessary in case the filling shifts during washing, and sit out to dry (a fan speeds this process). Do not dry in the dryer.

Cotton Plushies: Much the same as the wool. You could use warm water if absolutely necessary, but I still recommend cold, using a delicates bag, gentle cycle, and again, air drying.

Acrylic /Chenille/Fuzzy Plushies: Same instructions as Cotton. Spot clean or use the cotton instructions. Cold recommended (you could use warm but I recommend cold) water, delicates bag, gentle cycle, and air dry.

Payment
I accept several forms of payment. I accept credit cards either via Paypal or Etsy's Direct Checkout System. Either method can be used to pay by credit card. For custom work, often a deposit of minimum 50% is made. I can send an invoice for 50% of the price via paypal where you can pay by credit card or your paypal account.
Shipping
If you require an item shipped to an address other than what is on your Etsy or paypal account, you MUST let me know when making your order or soon thereafter in a convo. or simply change it as you're checking out. If I don't hear from you, I will most definitely use the address on your etsy account. Please check to be sure it is correct if you have moved since creating your account OR if you want it sent to another party as a gift. If an item returns to me due to this type of error, it is the buyers responsibility to pay shipping again for the item, assuming the item returns to me and I'm able to resend it to you.

I'm now using calculated shipping. Most of the plushies ship in an 8x6x4 box and allow for first class or priority upgrade. The weavings require a large box so that they arrive safe and flat and ready to hang! The price varies greatly based on location.
This is a change- I've always used priority in the past but now you have the option. This is great for small lightweight items like the mini toys. But just be aware if you for sure want it in 2 days upgrade to priority when checking out.
It will default domestically at first class and show you that price. If you want priority, which is the 2 day, then when you're checking out you'll have that option and it's a simple click to upgrade and see all the options- including Express.

INternational default will be first class which has always been my method unless otherwise requested as inteanational priority rates are rather expensive.
International shipments: your government may charge you a tax. This is out of my control and please do not complain to me about it-I promise you I can't change it for you. I have no control. Each country has different rates and it's based upon the cost of the item you're buying.

If you're having an item shipped to a gift recipient, I offer complimentary card with your message- you just need to let me know when checking out or via etsy message. I always wrap each item in tissue and it arrives nice and cute upon opening, but will include an extra card with gift message if you like.

I am not responsible for lost or damaged items. If you wish to add insurance to shipping, please let me know. It is not automatically included but can be added on. I will try to help you as best I can if there is an issue with shipping. Tracking is automatically included with domestic shipping orders. Please let me know if there are issues with shipping/delivery and I'll try to help track it down for you.

Thank you!
Refunds and Exchanges
Generally, NO refunds or exchanges on custom items. However, I will take these on a case by case basis(based on whether or not I feel it's an item I can resell in my shop), so please contact me if you have any issue with your custom item. You will always see pictures of your item before shipment; any concerns should be raised before I ship. I always want my customers to let me know and let me fix any issues rather than leaving me a negative feedback rating or having a bad feeling about my shop. Please let me know and please give me the chance to make you happy! If an item has a flaw, I will gladly exchange it for another item in my shop, or another custom item of the same value. However, I take the utmost care to create items of quality. And in any custom project, the client will see pictures ahead of time of the item; this is when questions or concerns should be raised.

I take care in packaging items. They are not breakable. Damage during shipment would be an extraordinary circumstance. If this is the case, I am not responsible. When I ship an item, it is in perfect condition and wrapped carefully, packaged carefully and taped well. If an item is lost during shipment I am not responsible.

If you wish to add insurance to shipping, you need to let me know. It is not automatically included.
Additional policies and FAQs
I love custom orders and do them all the time! Sometimes it's a new version of something I already have in my shop. Other times,it's a completely new item- like when I was requested to make the likeness of a beloved family dog and a treasured elephant toy- and what about the request to make a double size plush Wii remote (yes, I did)! Don't be limited by what you see. I require a minimum 50% deposit on custom items. I create my own shapes and creatures, I do not use patterns, and I can usually create something you would like. You can also check my "sold" items to see a few of these custom items or my Millie Fern Originals Facebook Page is also full of pics. *I do not currently sell my designs as patterns for personal or professional use. Thanks!
I'm more than happy to work with you and have always had happy customers.
