MinekoYoshidaGallery's Shop Announcement

I will be out of town from May 11th to May17th, 2012. Please email me before or after this period if you need to contact me.

I was born in Okinawa Japan, learning Japanese calligraphy as I was growing up, and later under master Uson Shiroma. I had a traditional Western art training at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, but over the years my painting style has shifted back toward drawing as calligraphy. I enjoy drawing lines most and use the canvas as a sheet of colored paper. Instead of painting the abstracted form of a particular image in life, I began to aim for expressing a cheerful and optimistic mood with line drawing. My schooling in New York City also influenced me in that I came to want to paint "positiveness" in abstract forms. Please visit my website,
