I've decided to make a change to how I ship items.
The default for shipping no longer includes tracking numbers and instead that is an add-on. Shipping prices are lower by default and I will refund overcharges as usual.
Boxing week promotion: All products over $20 are 10% off. Promotion ends Dec 27th. Use code BOXINGWEEKMBC at checkout

Video Game Enthusiast

I love being able to show off my passion for video games in my home but find the commercial options sometimes rather limited. It's not hard to find all kinds of blankets or plushies for newer games but try to find something for the classics, especially ones that are not well known, and you might be out of luck.

I decided I wanted to use pixel art to recreate my favorite characters. My first attempt at this involved crocheting granny squares and making blankets out of them. While satisfying, creating even a very small sprite would take nearly 100 hours.

Rather than give up I moved on to Latch Hook projects which is essentially pixel art when you get right down to it. Having found a good medium and covered a lot of my house in plush recreations of my favorite characters I'm now selling kits so others can enjoy it as well.

I was taught to crochet by my mother in 2001, she was taught by her mother, grandma was taught by her mother... it is thrilling to know I am continuing a family tradition.

Returns and exchange details
There are NO returns or exchanges on Retro Consoles. We test each one before shipping to ensure it is working properly.

Other physical items such as kits or finished items:
After item has shipped: We will offer an exchange for a similarly priced item if you pay the shipping and handling both ways and it is not a custom order. The returned item must be received before we will ship out the replacement and be in good condition with no pieces missing. If pieces are missing the cost of replacing them will reduce the credit you can use for a different kit. I will not accept completed kits back as they are no longer a DIY project.

Before an item has shipped: A full refund will be issued so long as the item was not a custom order. If it was a custom order I will offer a partial refund only. The amount returned will depend on the cost of materials used and the time spent making the item or prepping materials.

For digital items: We do not offer refunds after files have been downloaded under any circumstances due to how easy they are to copy and transfer. If the files have not been downloaded a full refund will be processed.
We accept Paypal, credit cards, and gift cards. Taxes are included in the prices of the items.

If you need to cancel your order for any reason please contact us immediately I try to ship items out as soon as possible after an order has been placed and I will not offer a refund after an item has shipped. I will allow for an exchange if you pay all postage fees both ways.
If you have not purchased a tracking number there is no insurance on the package and you will be responsible for any lost packages.

I do not pay customs or import fees. I do mark down the cost of my items on the forms to try and reduce the cost you may be charged.

Frequently asked questions
Is the pattern printed on the latch hook canvas?

Unfortunately no, since I design and create my own latch hook kits I use plain canvas with grid lines every 10 columns and rows.
The patterns I provide use the lines as references so you can count where you are. I attach the first two strands of yarn onto the bottom left side of canvas and mark them off on the printed pattern I ship with the supplies so there is no question about where you should be starting.

Care instructions for Latch Hook Kits

I strongly recommend hand washing only! While the canvas should survive a trip into the washing machine the design itself is only knotted on and how well it is attached depends on how tightly the strands are pulled.
The yarn used in my kits is acrylic which retains color well and should not seep or lose any vibrancy due to washing. Sun fading will occur but acrylic holds it's color the best out of any style of yarn.

Custom and personalized orders

If you would like to make a custom order please provide me with an image for reference and an idea on how large you would like your kit or Perler art to be. Size, the number of colors, and the complexity of the image requested will all affect the price I quote. All quotes will be given in Canadian Dollars.

Wholesale availability

My prices will not change for bulk orders. All of my items are prepared one by one and are already priced at wholesale costs.

What is included in a Latch Hook Kit?

With each kit you will be receiving:

1. The latch hook canvas cut in the appropriate size for the kit that you purchased with the first two strands of yarn tied on

2. All of the yarn needed to make the kit including any backgrounds and borders (plus a bit more in case some gets lost)

3. A printed copy of the pattern with the kit and two more copies will be sent by email

NOT included:
A Latch Hook Tool (Unless you add it as part of your shipping)
Any thread, rubber backing, or any other item for finishing the back or edges

How do you get your yarn pointing so straight?

I brush my rugs with a simple lint brush after I've finished with them. Ill go down from the top to the bottom and then do a few strokes on a 45 degree angle both towards the bottom left and bottom right and then straight down again from the top.

This gets rid of any stubborn fuzz and pilling, helps all of the yarn lay straight and flat, brightens up some colors, and can really help the pattern sit properly. I strongly recommend trying it out!
