A Passion for Dollhouse Miniatures

The first four images in the slide show above are 1/144th scale houses that I built from scratch (not kits) in 2008 and 2009. Each have sold. While I haven't had the time to devote to a new one, I'm quite proud of how they turned out, and wanted to share them with you. The last image is a group of items that shows just one step in the creation of six miniatures.

I have been fascinated with dollhouse miniatures since the early '70's when I was given a dollhouse kit for Christmas. I never did finish that house, except to get the shell put together and painted. It's still sitting unfinished in my garage. :o(

In 1999, when I was buying Pokémon cards for my son on eBay, I re-discovered miniatures. When I saw what was offered for sale, I thought to myself "Maybe I could make and sell some of my own creations." So, in 2000, and through 20012, I sold my miniatures on eBay under the ID "miniature*treasures." With the encouragement of another Etsy seller, I finally opened a shop here in January, 2012.

I love creating dollhouse miniatures (in both 1/12th and 1/144th inch scale). I'm always on the lookout for itsy-bitsy, teeny-tiny things, along with vintage children's books with their adorable and colorful illustrations. All of the books I make are scaled down versions of the originals. Most of them were published around the turn-of-the-century, but a few of them are more recent. Much of my work has a Victorian feel, but I also love creating miniatures that are in the Art Deco or Art Nouveau period.

While the majority of my offerings are miniature children's books, I do make some toys as well, and also offer other OOAK and Unique miniature accessories. Among them are: Photograph Albums, Vanity or Dresser items, Jewelry on Display Busts, Dollhouses for a Dollhouse, and anything else that happens to strike my fancy at the moment.

My husband and 26 yr-old son come first in my life, followed by my passion for miniature-making. While the men in my life don't participate in my shop, they do support me with the feel-good "Oooo's and Ahhh's" that make it all worthwhile.

A note about the miniature items I offer for sale: With the exception of my miniature children's books and some of my scrapbooks, the items I make are usually one-of-a-kind (OOAK) in one way or another. For example, some of my "celluloid" photograph albums, while I might use the same basic or main image, usually have a different cover trim, border graphic(s), findings, a different fabric design, and sometimes the album will include a display stand. So, no two are ever really exactly the same, and therefore I consider them OOAK. All of my vanity and jewelry items are always OOAK.

Notes about my miniature books:

My miniature books are an exact reproduction of the original, with one exception - Generally, the original book does not have a titled spine, but I almost always make one for my miniature version. Due to today's paper thicknesses, it's IMPOSSIBLE (for me anyway) to find a really high resolution paper that's also thin enough to construct exactly the same as the original. Therefore, there is a need for a spine. Having said that, the books are much more appealing when they can be placed in a bookcase if you desire.

My miniature items should not be considered toys and are not suitable for children under 14 years old.

If you don't see an answer to a question you may have, please send me a convo and I'll generally reply to you within 12 hours, if not sooner.

For BOTH U.S. & International buyers: Items will be shipped in a cotton-lined jewelry box and sent in a padded bubble mailer envelope. For purchases over $25.00 your purchase will be insured.

Items are shipped by USPS First Class Mail, and are normally shipped within 24 hours, Monday through Saturday (International sales are shipped Monday through Friday), with the exception of holidays, and weather beyond my control (I live in the rainy and snowy Northwest US.) Should there be a delay in shipping, I will notify you promptly.

Depending on the item(s) shipped, and at my discretion, Signature Confirmation might be required. However, should your total purchase order meet or exceed $150.00 Signature Confirmation WILL be required. This is both for your protection and mine.

US BUYERS: Priority Mail, if desired, will be at the additional cost charged by the USPS. Please let me know in the Notes section, during the checkout process if you wish to have your items sent by Priority Mail. In that case I will send you a PayPal Invoice for the increased postage amount. Having said that, Priority Mail doesn't really speed up the arrival date of packages.

Tracking information will be sent to you automatically upon shipment.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Insurance against loss or damage is included and is reflected in the Shipping cost on the item listing page. If you elect to have it shipped by Priority Mail International, please let me know in the Notes section of your payment that you wish a Priority Mail shipping upgrade. In that case, I will invoice you separately, via PayPal, for the additional cost PRIOR to shipment.

Please be aware that delivery times for International orders will vary depending upon the destination, and can take anywhere between 2-6 weeks, sometimes even longer if held up by your countries customs office.

IMPORTANT: Import duties, VAT, tariffs, taxes, and any other fees imposed by your country are NOT included in the item price or shipping cost. These additional costs, if any, are your responsibility. So that there are no surprises for you, please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs might be prior to your purchase. Also, I do not declare items as "gifts" as it is against US Law. I appreciate your understanding.

US and International: For multiple, combined, purchases: I have set up my Shipping Fees to allow you to have a reduced charge for multiple purchases, which must be paid for in ONE payment. Items purchased separately will result in an overpayment of shipping costs.

If you need clarification regarding any the above, please feel free to email me.
Refunds and Exchanges
Refunds and returns are on a case-by-case basis. If you have an issue with the item or delivery of your item, please Convo me through Etsy's email system within 7 working days after receipt so that we can work out a solution. Please do not throw anything away, including the packaging, as all will be required in the event an insurance claim needs to be filed.

Note: Nothing I sell is intended for use by young children.
