The blanket is so beautiful! They went out of their way to custom order a special fabric that I asked for. I will definitely use them again!

Three families, working together to accomplish their goals
Our 'story' is below. When we decided to live solely off our income from our Etsy business, we knew we needed to drastically cut expenses. We found a 'shed' on Craigslist, it became our home for the next 4 years. If you are determined, you do what you have to do. For us, this was the answer to freedom. If you want to see our tiny 400 foot house, click on the first link. Karen Brown, a writer for the Etsy blog, did a nice write-up about our house and business, you can find it on the second link below. We do not live in the tiny house any more - it was what enabled us to live on our tiny wages as we built our business. We now live in a 800 square foot mansion :)
Minky Baby Gifts is a business owned and run by my family. It has become much more tame, pleasant, and docile over the years as we have forced it into a smaller space, not only in a physical sense (smaller shop), but also in our lives. Personally, I have fought with it over the years, at times wanting to slay the dragon, other times feeding and cherishing it, but finally coming to terms with it's place in our lives. It is a means to an end, it is a business that helps us accomplish our goals of having more time for family and volunteer work.
Gary is my extremely patient, hardworking, and supportive husband. We work together, both cutting and sewing. I drive him crazy sometimes. Max is our inspiration and son, a bright, interesting young man of 17 years, he digitizes the embroidery. I am Debra, lover of any textile soft, fuzzy, and washable. In the morning we have fuzz in our coffee, so I guess you can say it is in our veins!
It has been a pleasure to work with my sister, Sarah, and her hubby Paul. Their children also work at the shop, Aaron cuts the fabric fabric, Abby folds and packages, Jonah provides entertainment. Sarah has always been the best seamstress in our family, her specialty being retro styled dresses of the '40's and '50's. She is amazing......and we now work together. She is the perfectionist who fashions your blankets on our industrial machines. Paul runs the embroidery machines, knows them as a father knows his children. A great listener, he can tell when one of the machines is having an 'off' day, will coax it back into the lineup.
Dustin and Thania Garza are an important piece of making our business function smoothly. For years we muddled through, teaching ourselves the in's and out's of online business, we are happy to have them come on-board as long distance collaborators, our IT team. They live in beautiful Mexico, and spend much of their time as volunteers in their community. It will be fun to see how the shop evolves in the future, under their professional guidance.
A huge Thank You to our Etsy customers for making our lifestyles possible!
Debra, Gary, and Max Jordan
Sewing, Cutting, And Convo Specialist
We enjoy working together, and these two men are very secure in their masculinity, they can spot a 'cute' pattern from a mile away.
Paul and Sarah Vines
Seamstress, Embroidey Specialist
Sarah is the main seamstress, and is also my sister. a perfectionist who also enjoys making her own vintage style clothing. Paul is the Embroidery Specialist, knows how to manage our finicky machines and keep them humming.
Abby, Aaron, and Jonah
Shipper, Fabric Cutter, Entertainment Specialist
Aaron works part time with us cutting fabric, Abby Packages and ships, Jonah provides hours of entertainment, and makes a killer tuna sandwich on the days we just don't have time to cook.
Dustin and Thania Garza
Dustin and Thania manage our inventory and Etsy site. Having hundreds of listings is very time consuming, they have helped to organize the chaos in my head (Debra's). They have developed helpful tools and apps to make things run smoother!
Puddy lived in the woods behind the shop, it took 5 months to convince her to come live with us. now she concentrates on keeping the couch company while we are away from the house.
