Handmade Paper Quilling Art

Târgovişte, Romania

Announcement    SHIPPING larger packages (ex. "frames") outside of Europe is done only on Tuesdays (policy of my local post office).
Hello! I'm Miriam and I'm a paper quilling artist, based in Romania, who likes to make handmade art, using paper as the basic material, in a technique called Quilling. Each piece I create is unique and made with much effort and love. It usually takes me from 3 days to 3 weeks to make a single art piece, depending on the complexity of the design. You can find me as "Miriam's Quilling" on Instagram (where I usually share my most recent projects that I'm working on), and on YouTube (where I share tutorials mostly on the quilling topic).

My journey with paper quilling :)

My first encounter with paper quilling was about 10-11 years ago when I received a handmade card from a lovely cousin, made in the quilling technique. I was fascinated and intrigued by this art, so it was not long until I tried it out myself. I bought a small basic quilling kit, which contained a slotted tool and some colorful paper strips and started rolling those paper strips away! I then began to also cut my own paper strips and did that for a number of years (while, at the same time, I still would use some precut ones too, bought from stores).
Fast-forward a few years later, after finishing my school studies, I began doing paper quilling as my full time work, as it were. The implications of my disability prevented me from being able to get a normal job so I just continued to work from home, doing what I enjoyed - handmade art - and improving my skills through the years. I am blessed to have a supportive family that has always encouraged my journey with paper quilling (with its ups and downs) and still does to the day!
As of the beginning of 2020 I've also started to put more work into creating tutorials on YouTube to share with anyone who is interested in learning this art or just loves watching art in general. I believe paper quilling is a very beautiful art that deserves more recognition, so I'm trying to do my part in that too!
As of 2020, I've also started to practice watercolors more, in some of my free time, because I've seen that it works really well in combination with some of my quilling projects, and I also just simply feel like painting sometimes :).
And lastly, of course, as most artists, I too have always wanted to be able to earn through the work that I do, and I've been blessed by God to have had moments when my artworks were bought by different friends, acquaintances or other people. And I'm happy that I could open a shop this year here on Etsy, in the hopes that my artworks could find homes where they could be enjoyed as much as I've enjoyed making them!
So, thank you very much for stopping by and I hope that you'll be able to find something pleasing here!
Miriam :)
