About Mirjam Polman
Since 2013, I work and live on one of the smallest islands of the Canary archipel, called La Gomera. The blue ocean, the rough nature, and beautiful colors of the small villages are fascinating and on a strange way, inspirational! This, and the calm atmosphere, is a magical effect on my work!
After two years on La Gomera, I passed my exam as ‘Artesana de Las Islas Canarias’ with my work with sea glass (see the Etsyshop LaGomeraBeachArt). I could call myself a craftsman (woman) from the Canary Islands. A title that stands for work that’s handmade. A title for traditional crafts, but also for modern and more artistic crafts.
I expanded my work by creating wall decorations that is made out of written texts, names or words. It is an unknown technique, called Calligram. I sell them at special markets in various places on La Gomera.
Art Gallery La Luna in San Sebastian on La Gomera, has my work in their collection, especially my bigger artwork.
Since july 2020 I opened my own shop on the main square in San Sebastian. If you are on La Gomera, visit the main city and feel free to drop by!
I am only selling original art.
