I love my mala. The stones were perfect for me. I keep it with me for moments when I can slip in a bit of meditation. I wear it around my neck to remind me how I want to show up in life.

My goal is to create a mala you will connect with.

After my husband and I moved to Southern California from New York, I knew it was the right time to take a second look at my career path. I decided to take some time off to figure it all out. With a lot of time on my hands and the urge to understand myself better I turned to my long lost friend, yoga. Soon I became addicted to hot yoga sessions and found myself on my mat daily. The soothing benefits of daily spiritual practice quickly led me to explore meditation and Buddhism further.

As I searched for the perfect mala that would accompany me on my journey, I did not find any that I connected with. Remembering vaguely my fascination with healing crystals as a child, I once again purchased books and started reading about the captivating world of crystals. I designed my first mala soon after and searched for the right supplies to create it with. The world of gemstone beads had me stunned and all the possible designs started to float in my mind.

Mastering the craft was much more difficult than I initially anticipated. Being a stubborn perfectionist paid off in this case. I now enjoy the conscious work that goes into creating a mala. I write down all my design ideas as they come to me, sometimes in the middle of the night. Finding a combination of colors, textures and metaphysical properties that best represent the idea I have in mind sometimes takes weeks. The best ideas are turned into a mala made with only high quality natural materials, a meditative mindset and a lot of attention to details. I believe a mala should be pure and made with respect to nature’s intent. My goal is to create a mala that you will instantly connect with and feel the energy and compassion I created it with.

It's been four years since I made my first mala. I now spend all my weekdays (and often weekends) in my peaceful home studio - designing, handcrafting and photographing my malas. It gives me great joy to ship my creations all over the world. Connecting with like-minded people directly through Etsy and hearing from my lovely customers say how much they enjoy my work quickly became one of my favorite things about running a small creative business.

Please grab a cup of tea, take a seat and stay a while~ As a thank you for your interest in my work, please enjoy this coupon code for 10% off of your entire order over $110: ENJOY10

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

Please be gentle with your mala. Bathing, swimming, or partaking in any vigorous activity may lead to a breakage or damage of your mala. Please keep in mind that frequent stretching of a silk thread will weaken it overtime and may damage your mala.
Regular cleansing of your semiprecious stone mala is recommended. Gemstones absorb negative energy and could also transmit the negativity back if they become saturated. To remove any unwanted energy, leave your mala in moonlight overnight, smudge it with sage or lemongrass or use other crystals such as amethyst, Citrine and Quartz Crystal.
Metal accents may tarnish due to its exposure to air and natural oils. If preferred, a polishing cloth can be used to restore their shine.

How to measure your wrist and choose the right bracelet size

Use a measuring tape or a piece of string and a ruler. Wrap it around your wrist where it bends. The tape/string should be snug but not tight. Write down the measurement in inches.
Choose your preferred fit:
Snug fit: add 0.75" to your wrist measurement to get your bracelet size.
Comfortable fit: add 1" to your wrist measurement to get your bracelet size.
Loose fit: add 1.25" to your wrist measurement to get your bracelet size.

If you're unsure, please contact me. All bracelets can be custom fit. Knotted mala necklaces are one size only.

What is mala?

A Japa mala or mala (a Sanskrit word meaning garland) is a set of beads traditionally used by Hindus, Buddhists, and yoga practitioners during meditation. They are usually made from 108 beads, though other numbers, usually divisible by 9, are also used. Malas are used for keeping count while reciting prayers, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra. This practice is known in Sanskrit as japa. It is believed that using a mala during mediation empowers it with restful, centered awareness. Wearing the mala throughout the day carries the energy of meditation into activity. Most malas are typically made with 21, 24, 27, 54 or 108 beads.

How to meditate

Begin with finding a quiet and comfortable space. Sitting in a cross-legged position, choose your mantra and set your intention. Let go of any concerns or preoccupations. With your eyes closed, focus on your natural breath. As you begin to deepen your breath, bring your focus onto your mantra or affirmation.

How to use mala beads

Using mala beads in your meditation practice is easy and enjoyable. If you wish to follow the Tibetan tradition, hold your mala with your left hand, closer to your heart, by placing the first bead next to the guru bead on top of your index finger and thumb on the guru bead. Each bead represents one repetition of your mantra. At the end of each repetition, slide the bead with your thumb towards the body and move onto the next bead. Continue, until you reach a count of 7, 21, 27 or 108. Out of respect for our teachers, the guru bead should never be crossed. If you reach your guru bead and wish to do more repetitions, turn the mala around and move in the opposite direction.

Will I receive the exact mala pictured?

The pictured mala is a sample. Because I only use natural gemstones, you can expect slight color/patern variation in your gems. Each mala is created with handpicked beads and is as beautiful as the one shown. Unique and with it's own energy.
