About

The Story of the Miss Kay and Her Shop

I have always liked to do creative things. I guess it comes from having art as part of my life from a very early age. My dad is an artist and my mother is also very creative. When I was in elementary school I found my dad's prismacolor pencils (you know the expensive ones) and proceeded to draw and draw and draw. I covered my entire room with drawings. Since then I've always had one project or another. I took all the art classes in high school. I made costumes and learned calligraphy in college. Most of my creative projects have come about because I wanted something but couldn't find exactly what I wanted... my solution was to make it myself.

I learned how to cross stitch when I was still in the single digits and I had done a bit of it here and there over the years. Then I wanted a pattern for the Angel Moroni statue commonly seen atop LDS temples. I searched high and low but I couldn't seem to find one. So I decided to make one myself. After creating one pattern... I just kept making more and more. Then one day my friend tells me that I could probably sell my patterns. So that led me on a search for a program that could digitize patterns. I finally found one for the iPad for pretty cheap called StitchSketch and I started making digital patterns and putting them for sell on Etsy. All the patterns I make are definitely labors of love. It probably takes me 50+ hours to create one pattern, then cross stitch it, photograph it, and list it for sell on Etsy. So I hope you like my shop and enjoy any patterns you might buy. And I love hearing from customers so be sure to message me about anything :)

All patterns are for personal use only and not for commercial use.

I cross stitch all my patterns myself before posting them here on Etsy. That way I figure out any issues with the pattern and the complexity before I sell it to others. And that way you can see how the finished project is supposed to look :)

I occasionally take custom orders for patterns. If you want to purchase and existing pattern and have a name added to it, I can do that as well for a few extra dollars. For custom patterns I do charge an hourly rate. Though if the design I create is resell-able, your cost would go down. Message me if you have any questions :)
