Frequently asked questions

Can you guarantee me a top search ranking in Google or Etsy's search engine?

NO. Anyone who guarantees you a specific ranking in Google's organic search is lying or has no idea what they're doing.

SEO is a long-term, ongoing process, and the algorithms are constantly changing. That said, my goal is to give you a good understanding of the basics of how search engines work and how to get your products found by search engines.

In my online workshop, DIY SEO for E-commerce, I also walk you through the "dark side" of SEO so that you don't get screwed over by sketchy people trying to sell you their "black hat SEO" services.

How do you know about all of this stuff?

By day, I specialize in search engine optimization, social media and content marketing as Director of Marketing at LookFar, a software development studio in New Orleans.

I've been doing this whole Internet thing for a pretty long time. I started my site, MissMalaprop.com, back in 2006, but I first started learning HTML and the basics of website creation back in 2001 while trying to make my LiveJournal look pretty. (Anybody remember LiveJournal??)

I ran my own e-commerce site for many years and I also sold at craft shows and art markets extensively around New Orleans. I even wrote a book about it called How to Make Money at Craft Shows!

Do you ever teach classes or workshops in person?

I sure do! I teach workshops locally in New Orleans and speak at events around the country!

In addition to training clients on the basics of SEO, I’ve also spoken about topics like Growing Your Brand on Instagram (iRetreat Conference and Rising Tide Conference, both in New Orleans) and Google Analytics for Bloggers (Thrive Blog Conference in Houston).

In 2016, I presented Content Hacking, FTW! [Grow Your Online Traffic with Epic Content] at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week and Wordcamp NOLA, plus I was a panelist at the Boost Your Business event hosted by Facebook at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

In April 2018, you can find me teaching at Craftcation Conference in Ventura, California.
