This was such a wonderful experience. Thank you so much for making us custom speech bubbles for our conference. They were a huge hit in our photo booth!

A Need to Make

I've been creating ever since I can remember. In middle school I decided I would be a graphic designer, and followed that dream to college. Somewhere in that journey, I started feeling as the conception and design of my ideas wasn't quite enough for me, and went back to include the "getting my hands dirty" part of the process that I began to miss - the actual making of an item. I've studied drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, letterpress, ceramics...I love them all, but then started missing the inclusion of technology. I've now found a way to combine hands on making with the technology available today.

My current process starts with an idea that may or may not end up being sketched or written down. I then move to the computer where I design the piece. I then choose my material and prepare it. After another few steps, the design moves to my laser where I can watch the piece being cut. It's amazing what technology has made possible.

I don't see this as the destination of my artistic journey, but simply as a step along the way. The creative process is always changing and adapting to a number of different factors. One of those factors, of course, is family. I currently live outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, with my supportive husband and our four children. I love that the way I have my little business set up I can stay at home and watch my kids grow. Right now they are young, so the amount of time I have to dedicate to Mixed Mangos is limited. I know that as they continue to grow I will find more time to spend creating, and I'm excited to see where my journey continues to take me.
