I love being creative and making things instead of buying them. Handmade items are personal and often times one of a kind.
I am a sarcastic perfectionist who is constantly in overdrive mode. I have always been creative but when my kids came a long my creativity...well... kind of exploded. Birthday Cakes. Halloween costumes. Photos. When I had kids I was shocked at the quality of things I was looking for that I could just make myself. I am not a girly girl. I am picky. I want what I want and can not always find it. I like stuff that is not exactly the same as what someone else has. Or my kids want something off the wall and really test my creativity. I love being creative! So here we are. I introduce to you Mobsession.
Why the name? I have always been very interested in the history of the mafia. When I think of the mafia "style" I think of a hardcore, passionate, intense lifestyle and a flashy fashion sense that makes a statement. I am a passionate and intense person. I do not settle and always need to do more. I live a very busy lifestyle and tend to be going constantly. I usually have something with me that I am working on. I like to call them car crafts:)
My family is my world. I have to do what I love in order to teach my kids to follow their dreams and passions. We need to do the things in life that bring out that true passion for whatever it may be that makes us truly happy. I am lucky to have some very creative family as well. My sister, niece, and I spend time in the summer making things and trying new things. We teach each other new techniques and perfecting others. My niece is also a blogger and features many talented people.
A couple years ago I told my best friend Anne,that she should make jewelry with me. She agreed with a little apprehension. She made a few things with me. It was a way to spend a little time together and have a glass of wine. We thought it would be fun. Then it exploded and we have had some great, interesting, and fun experiences together. We have met some amazing people and artists. We have learned so much together and continue to do so. We have totally different styles which makes creating even more fun. Hopefully one day she will have her own Etsy Shop.
I am constantly thinking about things I can make or re-create. I am that person that will stop on the side of the road to pick up a new "treasure." I will not let a pallet or fallen tree branches go to waste. Magazines make great Christmas trees, Old t-shirts make a unique yarn. I love to make something old into something new. Whether it is a piece of furniture or Grandma's old jewelry. I often get told that I do not have to re-purpose everything:)
