Modern Art is fun and happy vintage
Modern Art began in 2007 as a shop where I could sell my paintings, handmade clothes and accessories. Over time it has been transformed into an emporium of fun and happy vintage items.
Most of the clothing I sell is from the 60s through 90s. I love prints and bright colors - and anything with a distinctive design. I also love Modern Art (hence the shop's name) and will buy and sell anything I find that is related to art from the late 1800's through the mid-20th century. I tend to collect things with unicorns on them, cat and dog themed items, ski clothes and related accessories, modern art books, Couroc of Monterey, leather jackets and skirts, faux fur coats, interesting sweaters, mod and psychedelic print dresses, and 1980's collectibles.
I grew up in the 1980's so you will see lots of pieces in my shop from that decade. I remember all of those big trends that made that decade so special. We fiended for neon, Swatch watches, and clothing by Benetton and Esprit.
Most of my items come from California and Nevada but I also get items from Florida and the midwest. Sometimes I seek out items just for this shop and sometimes the items find me. I am starting to add more designer items as Etsy seems to be a fun venue for selling my special pieces. I have been selling clothing, antiques and other collectibles online professionally for over a decade. When you purchase from me here in my ModernArt store (and my other Etsy stores) I want you to have a fantastic buying experience. A lot of thought and consideration goes into every aspect of each item's description.
Thank you for visiting ModernArt!

Additional policies and FAQs
For vintage items I will specifically describe any defects, flaws or wear. Excellent condition (or new old stock) are the items in the very best condition. "Very good" is still in great condition but may have a few small flaws or signs or wear and use. "Good" would have more significant wear but still be wearable or useable (usually these items are collectable or best for costume or dress-up play use). "Fair" items would be those that have significant wear and flaws but are being salvaged because the have some value as collectibles or as "shabby chic" items. I really try to only sell the very best vintage clothes that I would want to wear or have in my closet. I pass on selling many items that are not up to my standards.
HOW TOPS ARE MEASURED: Bust/Chest: Armpit seam to arm pit seam and then doubled to get the circumference; Long: Back of collar (below collar) to bottom of top, if measured differently it will be noted how it is measured; Sleeve: Middle of the back just below the neck to the shoulder, then shoulder to elbow, then elbow to wrist (the end of the sleeve) (total of these three measurements gives the sleeve measurement like how a men's dress shirt sleeve is measured). If sleeve or length is measured differently it will be noted by the measurement.
HOW BOTTOMS ARE MEASURED: Rise is measured to the top of the pants (top of the waistband) from the crotch seam. Front and back rise are given for the best possible comfortable fit estimation. Hip is measured approx. 6 inches below the waist.
PLEASE READ AND CHECK THE MEASUREMENTS FOR EACH ITEM with your body measurements (and with the measurements of a similar article of clothing that fits well) for best possible fit, please do not just go by the size label or tag as fit can vary between items even with familiar brands and especially with vintage items. Vintage items tend to run small.
"WOMEN'S Size" means regular women's size, this is sometimes called "Misses". If it is PLUS size I will label it as plus size.
