About

The urge to create

Since I was a small boy, I've always wanted to tinker and create things. I have made toy boats from old discarded slippers, toy cranes from empty cans and barbecue bamboo sticks.

I got my bachelors degree in computer science and work in the corporate world for more than 20 years. I dabbled in wood turning, furniture making, wood carving and other wood working disciplines. Every now and then, I also painted and took photographs of landscapes and other scenery. A few years back, I decided that I wanted to work for myself so I quit the corporate world.

I opened my own custom picture framing business and was happy with it but still had the urge to create stuff so I decided to open an Etsy shop. My first Etsy shop did not find an audience so I decided to close it. After a few months of tinkering and a little bit of research, I decided to open Modern Canvas.

I mostly do my work on the Wacom Cintiq 24HD and use the Canon iPF8400 to print my canvas and archival matte paper giclees.
