The goal of Modern Made is to bring crochet and knitting to the next generation.
As a pattern designer, I want to help people create items that resonate with them—things they’re proud to display in their homes. When I first started learning to crochet and knit, it was rare to find patterns that aligned with my own aesthetic: something modern, cozy, and chic. I wanted my craft to be not just a fun and relaxing pastime, but a means of self-expression. I design crochet and knit patterns because I want others to experience that same sense of creativity and fulfillment.
Over time, I realized that a big part of bringing knitting and crochet to the next generation is making it more accessible and meeting people where they are: on social media. I’ve become passionate about teaching crochet and knitting through tutorials on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. I’m so excited to see the younger generation rediscover these craft forms that were becoming endangered, and realize how fun, therapeutic, and useful they can be.
I believe these “granny crafts” all deserve to be updated—not stuck in the 1970s basement. Your great aunt Edna and the Amish shouldn’t have a monopoly on all the fun. And so, Modern Made was born.
