Photography from the the heart of Paris!

While I've been a photographer for over ten years now, my focus grew towards commercial photography, which is great because it allows me to have fresh opportunities to create images of very diverse subjects for a wide variety of clients, but ultimately I missed the the joy I took from wandering the streets alone and finding magical moments with my camera. It was these special times...quality time by myself without the pressure of expectations because it's my profession, nor constraints of time or budget, that I was really in my happy place with my camera. I do love when I fall into the zone during a portrait session when the client and I just click into the groove, but there is something quite different about taking the quiet observer role in the middle of a vibrant city and getting home to reveal these more introspective observations of the world.

There's also the excitement of seeing what can be done in post-production to bring to life the mood and energy that I felt when I took the picture and to inject it into the finished photograph. I absolutely love this part of the process and time flies by during both the wandering with the camera stage and the editing stage.

My approach in both the capturing of the images and the editing is not dissimilar from the way I live my life...I value authenticity, originality, non-conformity and individualism, so I always try to find a unique perspective for a subject and then I treat it in post with a very subjective interpretation of colour. My background in fine art and studio art lends me an aesthetic which can me sometimes painterly, but still quite clean and modern. Who knows what direction my work will develop in as I return to the genre of photography that originally awoke this passion. I'm really excited to see it unfold!

It's worth mentioning that my last trip to Paris in 2013 for creative inspiration was such a turning point in my life that I decided to move here in 2015. The photos I used to launch my Etsy store were taken during that month and are special to me for that reason. I absolutely love Paris for both it's quiet, majestic beauty and its vibrant social and cultural scene. I can thank my camera for bringing me here on that fateful trip to re-kindle my passion. It seems to have worked!
