Announcement   I make things.

My bird-love comes from my grandparents. They passed their passion for feathers to me, and now I have done the same with my son.
I have almost converted my husband.

My grandparents also nurtured my relationship with God. By their genuine and down-to-earth love for birds and love for each other, my grandparents taught me how much God loves me.

I know He is mindful of a little sparrow-and He sees me too.

Some of my fiber art, handbags and other art have been published in Stampington Magazine's Haute Handbags, Sew Somerset, Prims, Somerset Studio Gallery, and The Coloring Studio.

I'm trying to give up my folk art doll habit, but could not resist this time. This little doll, Magnolia, is made in the tradition of that practiced by my Appalachian forebears, all the way down to the hand-stitched clothing and facial details. I can imagine my dear departed mother having played with a doll like this during the Great Depression. I am rarely moved by a photograph of an item, and kept coming back to this one for that reason. She is a delightful keepsake which was obviously made with love and thought. Carefully packaged in recyclable materials (thanks for that!) and quickly shipped, as well. Be assured of quality and a truly unique item when you order from Monnie Bean.

I found this shop completely by accident; I saw a delightful item on a gardening blog and found out it was made by Monnie Bean/Debra. Of course it was sold, and one of a kind, but a girl can dream. She later made a similar one, shown here, and I got him! Lucky me! He is even more handsome in "person" than in the photo. I am so pleased with his solid craftsmanship, as well as the whimsy and creativity it took to bring him to life. He will be a treasured piece of art in my home and suits me perfectly. Purchase from this shop with confidence; you may be assured of excellent communication, sturdy packaging, and a unique product.

I loved how this doll looked in the listing photos, but in person she is even more wonderful. She is made with care and has distinct character. Just lovely.

About

Monnie bean Folk art

I am inspired by so many things in life. I guess love would be at the top of my list. That's why I include my animals in my business.

My dove hoots the same old hoot all day, but I've made fabric birds that he approves of.

I love working with fabric, buttons, paint, old architectural things, rusty junk things....the list goes on. Life is a wonder, and I am thankful to be here.

My birds and handbags have been published in these Stampington magazines: Haute Handbags, Prims, Sew Somerset, and Somerset Studio Gallery. The Coloring Studio published 3 of my pen and ink drawings in their Autumn 2016 issue.

Each item for sale in my shop was handmade by me. I take a lot of pride in that-I take my time to hand make well.
