Unique Gifts & Home Decor with a Quirky, Retro Flare

Welcome to your new favorite place to buy unique art prints and gifts for all of your quirky friends (and yourself, of course)! I, myself, am strange and unusual so it's no wonder that the work I create is as well. At Monster No 5, you can always find the best retro style home decor and gifts, featuring lovingly crafted digital illustrations spanning the movies, mythical creatures, and much more.

Hi, I'm Hannah! A quintessential enneagram 4 with a penchant for the nostalgic and weird -- aspiring scream queen, vintage vixen, monster tamer (aka cat lady), and mutant superhero by night. My love for obscure pop culture references, great literature and poetry, art deco through mid century modern design, mythical creatures, old-school monsters, and experimental fine art have all joined together to create Monster No 5.

Luckily, I have a very supportive family that has encouraged me every step of the way in learning to tame this curious beast. I would never have had the courage to follow my passions and launch Monster No 5 if it wasn’t for Jake (my stud-muffin nerd of a husband) and my two children, Gnome and Nero (yes, they are cats, and, yes, they are still supportive… as only cats can be, of course).

  • Hannah Holmes

    Owner

Creator of pop culture oddities and curious creations. Enjoys long walks on the beach, monsters, Baz Luhrmann films, B-movies, and unicorns. Graphic designer, photographer, and mixed media artist with a BFA in Photography and Digital Imaging.

Partner In Crime / Moral Support

Husband of Hannah Holmes. Enjoys 15-year old video games, bow ties, Pokemon, Joss Whedon, Game of Thrones, and obscure television references. Inspiration and support extraordinaire, making sure the house doesn't burn down while his wife is on Etsy.

  • Nero Holmes

Fur Kid / Designer In Training

Fur child number 1, a striped Tabby. Enjoys terrorizing his little brother, eating paper towels, destroying upholstery, and attacking moving objects. The force is strong in this one.

  • Gnome Holmes

Fur Kid / Jr Marketing Division

Fur child number 2, a Napoleon munchkin cat. Enjoys provoking his older brother, chasing his own fur balls, sliding on wood floors, and playing soccer with a brain-shaped stress ball. Though his legs be short, his heart is huge.

Frequently asked questions

Gift wrapping and packaging

Art Prints:
You can count on your artwork arriving to you in perfect condition. Every print is placed into an archival plastic sleeve and then sandwiched between two pieces of thick matte board or chipboard before being packaged into a rigid chipboard mailer. I do everything I can to ensure solid, protective packaging.

Tee Shirts:
Your tee shirt will be lovingly folded and then shipped in a black poly-mailer. These mailers are high-strength, moisture-proof, and tear and tamper resistant.

Gift Wrapping:
Special gift wrapping may be available for an additional fee upon request.

Do the prints include a border or are they full bleed?

All of our prints come full bleed.* (We did at one time offer a .125" border as the standard, but have decided to change to full-bleed due to popular demand.)

*There may occasionally be exceptions, so please read the full item description and message me if you have any questions.

Does my print need to be matted?

This is completely up to your preference. Some people prefer the gallery look of a matted piece of art, while others feel a full-bleed framed print provides a more modern appearance.

You can find pre-cut or custom mattes at craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Michaels or at a custom frame shop. Mattes for small prints like those available in the Monster No 5 shop are usually quite affordable.

Another option if you would like the matte look without the added expense is to request a small white border be added to your print in production. You may request an increase to the white border as large as 1" free of charge.

(NOTE: Prints purchases from Monster No 5 DO NOT include mattes or frames.)
