I began making monsters when I was a poor student who wanted plush monsters and had no money to buy some. I started out making them out of patterns from books, but pretty soon felt the creative urge to invent some monster designs of my own. I have always loved making tiny doodles and the monsters are, in many ways, my doodles in 3D. The best part is the moment when a piece of fur suddenly gets a personality of her own, and from that moment on I really feel like it's alive!
I started selling my monsters when my apartment got too small for so many monsters, at first at street fairs and then at Esty. Etsy is just a wonderful place to show my art and meet new people. I now have quite a few friends I met through Esty and I think that's the part I love the most about it- It really is a community.
I make all the monsters by hand- I don't like using the sewing machine (and also- I stink at it!). It does mean it takes a bunch of time making them, but also I think this is why each monster comes out with it's own personality.
