Monticello Gardens Permaculture - Sustainable Happiness

At Monticello Gardens we are all about tending to ecosystems so they can thrive. Be it the ecosystem of a permaculture or a food forest or the ecosystem of an individual person. We focus on creating equilibrium, health and joy by applying universal rules and using the true and tested tools of the trade.

At Monticello Gardens we choose to adopt permaculture principles because we believe it is possible to grow food while improving our environment instead of destroying it. Our concern to produce nutritious and tasty food is equally important to us as our concern to protect the ecosystems. How do we do this?
image
By keeping all wild flowers around our edibles we encourage all pollinators to be with us during all four seasons.
By growing nitrogen fixing plants we feed our soil without having to add external material such as fertilizers. This practice also ensures an even stronger bond with pollinators.
We chop and drop all unwanted weeds and mulch our trees and shrubs to mimic the very natural cycle of soil fertility.
As far as pest control is concerned we believe in growing the widest possible diversity of plant species in order to attract an abundance of insects and birds, reptiles and mammals that all co-habit in our gardens. By doing so we allow the pests and their predators to naturally take control of any over population problems at any given time.
We also believe it is important to grow more than we really need in order to be able to share some of our harvests with nature. Nature works for us day and night and deserves to be paid!

Frequently asked questions

What to do if your order is not what you expected?

If there is anything wrong with your order, snap a photo of the items right on reception (day of arrival) and send them to us. We will replace any item that is damaged or not as described.

Temperatures

Although I am always checking before sending out, making sure that the climate at destination is adequate for the plant you are buying is your responsibility. Be careful when ordering in winter as many plants will be severely damaged by frost during transport. In summer high temperatures can impact the plants wellness - make sure they do not spend time in a mailbox or in front of a door.

What if my plant dies after I planted it?

We guarantee that our plants leave our permaculture in the best condition possible. We will replace plants that have been damaged during transport, even if it is USPS that damages the box (remember to take pictures of the box and the damaged item). However we are not responsible for your gardening skills 😉 So if your plant dies after it has been planted we cannot be held responsible. However plants and gardening are our passion - we provide planting instructions and if you need assistance beyond this contact us anytime - we'll be happy to coach you. Keep in mind: trees go into dormancy, sometimes they may even loose all leaves and go into shock - this does not mean they are dead - be patient 🌻

Damaged shipping box and item

If your item was damaged during transport we will replace it for free. Snap a picture of the shipping box with the label on it and of the damaged item.

What about shipping outside the USA?

We will ship abroad however will not be responsible for damaged items due to longer than usual shipping delays. Items might be held at customs for many reasons. Shipping might involve second or third carriers. These agencies are beyond the control of our business.
