About

____________________________________________________________________________

CREATURE CREATING

Craft has warmly woven with life since I was a smallest creature. It was the way my mum made days mean something; when siblings departed for a day at school, we pursued magic in paper and glue. I grew and created my own magic and beauty with the materials around me. Cardboard, felt, paint, beads, old clothes, branches. Creation brought sanity and connection with what I was part. I journaled constantly, in books decorated to be exactly the home I needed for the time I was upon.

In university I focused on how to create spaces for others' creative process through Expressive Arts Therapy. It was in this time that I learned HOW TO BIND A BOOK! A moon-haired woman taught us the japanese style of binding, and for the next four years I bound my own journals, notebooks, day planners, and gifts. I've now self taught and developed my own styles of stitching sturdy, beautiful books. Moon Bound Books is a hope to share these vessels with you, and a reason to spend time in the luscious flow of binding. And now that my dear sister Sarah has come to live in the land of rain and mushrooms, we are binding these books together!

MOON BOUND

This is a space for your creative process, for the time that you are upon, or those that you wish to remember. Each is made with unique recycled material that has presented itself - you can feel the connection of minimizing waste and supporting the environment of which you are part. We strive to create different flavors of books so that you might discover a perfect, inspiring home for your creation or practical purpose.

The binding process involves two sisters, awl and paper-cutter, bone folder and book clips, vintage waxed string, recycled paper and covers. A drill helps in making holes through thick covers; aside from this our process requires no electricity. It is a wonderful, soothing creative process that we love very much.

Thank you for visiting. What you're creating is wonderful.
