    5 out of 5 stars

It was great working with Nechelle! She is very knowledgable about her work, and you can tell she puts a lot of time into what she does. Every dreamcatcher has its own unique and special touch. She got everything done on time, and she left a great description of the stones she included in the dreamer and what they mean. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, but I described to her how I wanted to feel around it. She definitely put together exactly what I described.

Handmade dreamcatchers

My journey began 2 years ago when I made my first two dreamcatchers. It started out as a hobby while I was working full time in the corporate world after college. Soon enough, I began wishing I was spending more of my time creating dreamcatchers than sitting in front of a computer, calling people to talk about things I had no interest in talking about to anyone. Ever. Eventually, I gathered up all the courage I had to quit my job and leave the life I thought I was supposed to live, going completely against everything I learned in school, at home, and growing up in a society where working in the corporate world means "you've made it." I knew the typical 9-5 wasn't for me but wasn't sure of where I was going to go from there, I had no idea what passion or inspiration were and although I didn't realize it at the time, I didn't even know who I was either, but I was soon to begin finding out.

I never thought creating dreamcatchers was something I could actually "do" but when I started working for a friend who owns a local business here in Sacramento, she suggested I start selling my dreamcatchers in her shop, Plug Club. And so I did. And people started requesting custom dreamcatchers created as gifts. And I was amazed, and inspired, and completely flattered that there was such a response to my art.

Meanwhile my life began quickly falling apart after my move to Sacramento. My relationship ended - the reason I had moved here, my well paying job was gone, I was working part time and now had an apartment I couldn't afford to live in. I began scrambling and did what most post college 20 somethings do, I got a job at a local restaurant waiting tables so I would have some time and space away from the corporate world to find myself. I was working 50 hour weeks between the two jobs and just trying to get by while asking myself big questions like "Who am I really?" and "Why have I never felt passionate about anything, ever?" and so the search for myself began.

Eventually I wound up at a place called the Awareness Institute at something called their Wednesday Night Inspiration class. I had no idea what to expect or what kind of organization I was stepping into but I knew I needed some inspiration and was desperate for answers to questions that can't be Googled. That Wednesday night class completely blew me away and I was hooked. I learned more about myself in those 2 hours than I had my whole life. I used all the money I had to attend their weekend workshop the following weekend, again not knowing what it would entail or who these people even were, I just knew I had to be there. I was fired from my restaurant job the following day for calling off work the next weekend and my journey into trusting and stepping into the unknown began.

Fast forward a year and I've joined the team of volunteers who run the organization, work with children, and have been continuing to ask myself the same questions, always getting closer, always getting to know myself more, and growing my dreamcatcher business slowly. I spend lots of time learning to look at myself from an outside perspective, to see the ways I've been holding myself back from what's true for me my whole life, and how I had been living the life I thought other people wanted me to live rather than the one I want to live. And I want to make dreamcatchers!

So here I am, a 25 year old in the process of finding herself and stepping into womanhood. This journey has been and still is the most difficult thing I have ever done and yet the most beautiful as well. I would love and so greatly appreciate your help and support as I begin to take my "business" farther to create the life that feels true to me.

All of my dreamcatchers are created with love, light, and passion. I also happen to love healing crystals and incorporate them into my designs as well. My style is earthy but dynamic, I'm constantly evolving, and love creating custom dreamcatchers with someone specific in mind. My shop photos can give you an idea of some of the ones I've created locally in Sacramento.

I'm so excited to begin this journey and hope you'll join me along the way! <3
