Is cutting food on a wood as sanitary as using a plastic cutting board?

Using wood for a cutting surface is safer then using plastic cutting boards. Research has shown that bacteria, such as salmonella commonly found on chickens will grow and thrive if not removed from plastic cutting boards. On wood, the bacteria will die off within a few minutes. One theory is that the wood surface deprives the bacteria of water, killing the bacteria. Cuts in plastic boards give the bacteria a place to live and thrive if not cleaned well. We use FDA approved glues in building our countertops so enjoy them.

What type of conditioner should I use on my board?

When you place an order, we provide a 1oz tin of Conditioning Butter. The butter is a combination of a food-safe bee wax and mineral oil. Your order will come with care instructions that explain how to use the Conditioning Butter.

What is the thickness of your charcuterie and cutting boards?

They range from 1-1/8" to 1-1/2" thick.

What types of wood do you use?

We use a variety of species such as Russian Olive, Ash, Cherry, Siberian Elm, Black Walnut, Maple, Locust and Oak. All of our woods come from felled trees throughout Southwest Montana and have been dried and cured.

What is your warranty?

We offer a 60-day guarantee of quality and workmanship.

Do you ship internationally?

We do not at this time.

How do I clean and care for my charcuterie or cutting board?

Full care instructions are included with each order, along with 1oz of our Board Butter.
