About

The Spotted Lynx uses a less-is-more aesthetic, appealing to the minimalist and the collector alike. We explore mythological themes through our work while providing high quality products at an affordable price point. A jewel can be a personal memento, a way to keep a secret close to your heart, or just something that speaks to you - whatever it is, it says something about who you are. We are honored to have so many folks choose us to express themselves.

A little about the maker:
A self taught silver smith, I learned by means of an incredible will, many books, a few online classes, a great deal of trial and error, and with the help of my ever-supportive hubby. A lifetime of creative pursuits - figure drawing, painting, playing the violin, ceramics, 700 paper origami cranes of assorted colors, a brief foray into scrap booking, and I always return to jewelry and gemstones. Both a die-hard do-it-yourselfer and a dreamer of many dreams, I love the possibility that making jewelry allows me.

I am a lover of the quiet desert, the swaying trees, the brewing storm, the stars above like an incredible painting - too impressive to be real. Thoughts always about the self, the true self, who it is that we show to the world, and the interesting ways that we have used jewelry throughout history to compliment, safeguard, and deter.

Shipping
Most items in our shop ship out within 3-5 business days, with the exception of made to order items. You will be notified of any changes to our shipment schedule.

If you need an item sooner, please contact us BEFORE PURCHASING to make sure we can accommodate your needs.

We are happy to ship directly to another address if your purchase is a gift - just ensure the proper address has been entered at checkout. If you do not want a receipt included leave us a note in the 'notes to seller' box.

SHIPPING FAQ:

+ What shipping services are available?
We generally ship using USPS First Class Mail to keep costs down, but also offer Priority Mail Flat Rate for more time-sensitive deliveries. Both options are also available to our international customers.

+ How long will it take to be delivered?
First Class Domestic mail is typically delivered within 1-3 days of shipment, though it is not guaranteed. Priority Domestic mail is delivered within 1-3 days, depending on your location. International First Class mail can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks, depending on your location and customs policies. International Priority mail is generally received within 6-10 business days, but does depend on location and customs policies as well.

+ What does domestic shipping include?
All domestic shipments include tracking information and Delivery Confirmation. Insurance can be included upon request.

+ What does international shipping include?
All international shipments include insurance coverage, with the exception of Mexico. Certain countries have limited insurance coverage that ceases upon touchdown of the aircraft at the airport of destination or upon discharge from the overseas vessel at the destination discharge port: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

+ I haven't received my international purchase, what should I do?
Occasionally mail is held at customs in the destination country - if your package has not been received try calling your local post office to see if it is there. Please understand that we are not responsible for hang-ups with the mail, though we will always do whatever we can to help you.

Refunds and Exchanges
REFUND & EXCHANGE FAQ:

+ What if my purchase gets lost in the mail?
If it is an international shipment that has exceeded 6 weeks of transit time, we will submit a claim to our insurance provider and will either send you a new item or process a refund, depending on your needs. Domestic shipments will be replaced or refunded. Shipping costs are not refundable.

+ What if I need to cancel my order?
You can cancel your order for any reason within 12 hours of purchase. If it has been longer than 12 hours please contact us - if we have not yet shipped your item we will gladly refund your purchase.

+ What if I want a refund on my item?
Refunds are dealt with on a case-by-case basis. In most cases, we will refund the buyer if the product has not been used or damaged and is in resalable condition. Shipping costs are not refundable.

+ My purchase arrived damaged, can I exchange it for a new one?
Occasionally items are damaged during transit. If this should happen to you, we will gladly replace or repair your purchase. The buyer is responsible for return shipping.

+ Can I customize the type of metal or gemstone used in a piece?
Typically, yes. Unless it is a one of a kind item, we are almost always able to accommodate these types of requests. Please send us a note or submit a custom order request. Depending on the materials used, the cost of the item may go up or down.

+ I have an idea of something I want, but I don't see it in your shop.
We love working on custom pieces with our customers, and often have a much greater array of gemstones available than what is listed in the shop. If there is something specific you're looking for, please send us a note and we can come up with something just for you.

+ Can I buy an item in a larger quantity?
In most cases, yes. Certain items cannot be replicated due to material limitations. Please send us a note or submit a custom order request and we will work with you to meet your needs.

+ Do you offer any discounts for bulk orders?
Yes, we offer discounts on purchases of more than 5 pieces of one type (exclusions apply). Please inquire for more information.

+ Are any products available for wholesale?
Yes, we offer wholesale pricing on certain items to qualified resellers. Please contact us for our linesheet.

CARE & MATERIALS FAQ:

+ How should I care for my items?
All jewelry is delicate, so always handle with care. Take jewelry off before going in the shower, swimming, or sleeping to prevent discoloration. Storing any pieces in small bags away from air exposure when not being worn will prevent tarnishing. Sterling silver, 14k Gold-Fill, and Brass will all tarnish over time depending on air, skin acidity, moisture, and other environmental factors. They can be polished to restore their shine, or can be let to change color naturally.

+ What is Oxidized Sterling Silver?
It is silver that has been treated with an oxidizing agent like Liver of Sulfer that causes the metal to change color. It is not a coating on top of the metal, and it will not flake off. The finish may become less dark over time. Be careful not to polish pieces that have been oxidized, or you will be left with bright silver.

+ What is 14k Gold Filled?
Gold Filled is a high quality product used as an affordable alternative to Gold. It contains far more gold than a Gold-Plated product, and is also far more durable as the gold will not chip off. Gold Filled metal is made by bonding 14k Gold to a Brass core and contains a durable layer of 14k Gold.

+ Are your metals recycled?
All of our Sterling Silver is 100% recycled and American made. We buy only from quality suppliers that adhere to strict responsible mining practices and produce in the USA.

+ Are your gemstones conflict free?
Yes. We only buy from established suppliers that can tell us where their stones come from and how they were treated. Many of our gemstones are purchased from American lapidary artists that source, cut, polish, and finally sell their products themselves. Even if it may mean spending a little more, we always choose to support American artists and local suppliers when they are available.
