About

Welcome!
My shop is called "More Majorum", which in Latin means "according to the custom of ancestors".
Here you will find my unique decorative works inspired by tribal arts and craft.

My name is Olga. I am 44 years old. I was born in the Soviet Union. My childhood passed behind the Iron Curtain, but I did not know it. It was an abstract concept until I began to dream of traveling around the world. Then I realized that we live in an isolated world, where only privileged people have such an opportunity.

Fortunately, in 1991, when I was 17, we stopped building communism, and the huge Soviet Union fell apart. Now we are also building something, each in its own country. But I do not understand very well what exactly we are building. I just know that there is a lot of garbage and dirt on our construction sites. And people want to hide somewhere from this.
I know one way to do this. I know one opportunity to unite all people, regardless of the language they speak or their religious beliefs. This is Art. This is my refuge, a source of inspiration and a way to find peace, tranquility, and beauty.

I became an avid traveler. My love for art and a passion for history make my travels unforgettable even when I'm sitting at home at my computer or reading a book.
I love beauty in all its forms, but especially - the beauty of the human soul.
Therefore, I invite you to join my trip around our beautiful planet. We will not admire the architectural masterpieces from different countries. And we will not taste the local culinary delights, although I really like to enjoy eating delicious foods. But we will meet amazing people who preserve their cultural identity and support the continuity of their unique traditions.
I am infinitely grateful to these people for allowing me to enjoy all this incredible beauty and harmony. Many of them live in harsh conditions. They lack the most essential things. But at the same time, they fill their works with light and warmth. And it surprises and touches me.

My friends often ask: "How do you like living in the museum?" Great! I like to surround myself with beautiful things, especially if they are made by hand. In my works, as in my life, everything must be unique.

I like working with natural materials. I often use a rope for home decor. This is not an easy material. He has a harsh temper; he is often ruthless to gentle female hands. I like to see how this simple, coarse and rigid material changes in my hands, turning ordinary things into unique and sometimes very graceful objects.
But frequently I felt that my creations lacked the riot of color.

A year ago I finished the restoration of old kitchen furniture. I painted the facades in the style of the pre-Columbian civilizations of America. It turned out a very bright, joyful room, which is sunny even on the cloudiest of days. I kept free a small section of the wall for a new art object in this style.
So my happy idea was born, how to expand the possibilities for my creativity. I combined a natural jute rope with a color twine, and this experiment proved to be successful.

Creating a collection requires a lot of intellectual, creative and physical efforts, as well as a lot of patience. This is laborious work and time-consuming.
I like the first stage most of all - the birth of an idea. There is still not quite a clear image in the head, but the heart is already beginning to enthusiastically beat in anticipation of beauty.

At the beginning of the work, I have to pay a lot of attention and be focused so as not to make a mistake in numerical calculations. Then, when the pattern begins to appear, I can relax a little and turn on my favorite music. I select classical music not only for my mood but also for the character of each item.

My first collections are dedicated to an extraordinary, incredible man - Mikhail Kazinik. Enlightener, musician, teacher, writer, poet, philosopher, artist ... he changes our world for the better every day.

I want to thank my friend Olga Fateeva for supporting any of my creative initiatives. Her beautiful paintings that adorn my house are another source of inspiration for me.
I want to wish all the good people freedom, peace, and harmony.

P.S.
Arthur Rubinstein said: "aime la vie et la vie t'aimera". It's true. Checked by personal experience.
