Announcement    MORNINGWOOD GROWERS

Hi! My name is Savitri Brant. An artist and designer by trade, I've always had a strong passion for nature and plants. To share my love of art and plants with you, I created Morningwood Growers.

Please be sure to read each listing thoroughly, so you know exactly what you are ordering.

I keep and grow specimens of every plant I sell. This allows me to fully understand their care, in less than perfect greenhouse / laboratory conditions. I grow my plants the same way you grow yours! Windowsills, indoors, outdoors, greenhouses, etc.

As an avid online shopper myself, I understand both sellers and buyers perspectives. I only ship out live healthy plants, I package them safely and securely, and I provide you with all the information you need to help them grow. With proper handling and care, all plants I ship are ready to grow for you. Please be sure to read each listing thoroughly, so you know exactly what you are ordering.

STORE POLICIES

CANCELLATIONS

I reserve the right to cancel any order for any reason.

I do not ship to HI or PR. I only ship to the contiguous states of USA.

I may, at my discretion, ship outside of the USA for orders over $200. These orders may require Phytosanitary documentation for export and import depending on where you live. The buyer is responsible for all documentation costs. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or returns are offered for any reason. If you do not accept this - please do not order.

SHIPPING SCHEDULE

I ship on Monday and or Tuesdays only. If your order is placed on a Tuesday, they may not ship until the following Monday / Tuesday. Shipping (the actual transport) takes between 3 and 9 days. USPS is responsible for any late or damaged shipments - no refunds or exchanges are offered for damaged shipments. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or returns are offered for any reason. If you do not accept this - please do not order.

BELOW 50

Cold weather shipping may require the purchase and use of heat packs. Heat packs are cloth bags holding charcoal and a natural catalyst. The combining items form heat, and in turn heat the package and plants. I use UNIHEAT products as they are time proven effective.

Notification of temperature in your area is your (the buyer) responsibility. If temperatures are below 50, please let me know by adding it to the "notes" section of your order. Plants arriving dead due to cold weather and the lack of heat packs are not refundable. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or returns are offered for any reason. If you do not accept this - please do not order.

PACKING

There are as many ways to pack a plant as there are plant sellers. The methods I use I developed over the past five years. My methods are as safe, and effective as any I've experienced. Most plants are wrapped and boxed, taped securely in place. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or returns are offered for any reason. If you do not accept this - please do not order.

NEWSPRINT

I recycle! Most of my orders are lovingly packed using newsprint, or other light weight paper. Newsprint is a superior packing medium. It is also free, saving me and saving you money. NEWSPRINT DOES NOT HARM PLANTS. It is not a desiccant. Many printers even use soy based inks - making newsprint a natural, safe packing material. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or returns are offered for any reason. If you do not accept this - please do not order.

DIFFERENT SPECIES / PLANT APPEARANCE

Over five years, I've had one complaint that the plant I sent was not the plant in the listing. Complaints are always unfortunate and I respectfully explained that the plant is indeed the same species as ordered - it simply grew under different conditions and has a different, outward, appearance.

Many plants will look totally different depending on if they are grown in full sun, or shade. They can look totally different because of the amount of water and nutrients they receive. It is not uncommon for (succulents especially) to even show different colors.

For instance, aloe. When grown in full sun, it has compact leafs and it a red / purple color. The same plant grown in shade will have long slender leafs that are lime to dark green. They may look completely different - but they are the same plant.

Another example is Truncata. When grown under certain conditions, the plant has a fan type growing habit, with leafs forming on teh left and right sides. Under different conditions, the same plant may show a more rosette type growth pattern.

An exceptional example are blanchtiana bromeliads. Under full sun, the plants leafs are short, bright yellow with red tints, growing to a height of around 1 to 2 feet. Those same plants, when grown in shade, have massive, long, green leafs that can reach 5 feet in height! They look nothing alike - and yet, they are the exact same plant.

Healthy plants appearing different than listing photos but are of the same species as the plant ordered, are not refundable. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or returns are offered for any reason. If you do not accept this - please do not order.

CUTTINGS

What is a cutting? A "cutting" for our purposes, is a section of plant cut from a mother plant for the purpose of propagation. Each cutting has one or two wounds, from where it was cut from the mother plant. These wounds will "scab" or heal over forming a dry layer. This aids the plant in conserving moisture and minerals. As the cuttings are cut fresh the day they are packed, the open wound is wrapped with paper (news print, paper towel, etc.) This is more for keeping things clean as the plants do weep a type of latex. This wrapping does not hurt or help the plant.

Cuttings take time to grow. During their journey to your door, they may loose leafs (even go completely bare) and the main stalk may wrinkle. This is normal. Plant the cuttings, following the rules in each cutting listing, and with good care, the plants will recover, root, and grow. Healthy cuttings shipped as described, even if showing signs of stress and or desiccation, are not refundable. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or returns are offered for any reason. If you do not accept this - please do not order.

RETURNS / REFUNDS

Due to recent ETSY case decisions, ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or returns are offered for any reason. If you do not accept this - please do not order.

THE BUGGIN MAX RULE

ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds for shipments with insects.

Live plants may arrive with occasional insect or other hitchhikers. Every possible protection against insects is taken here at Morningwood Growers. We are inspected twice yearly by the USDA for pests and every plant that ships is inspected before packaging and shipping. Many of our house plants use a granular systemic insecticide from Bonide. However, plants for human consumption (like turmeric, goji berry, moringa, etc.) receive no insecticide treatments at all.

Please understand, our shipping boxes are not hermetically sealed, and insects etc. can enter the package from anywhere; postage warehouses, shipping vehicles, your front porch, and even other shipments.

If you do receive a plant with pests, I recommend a quick spray with Spectricide Home Defense. It is made for interior use and is pet “safe”. If you don’t like insecticides, a water / dish soap mix works great on many insects.

DIRT HAPPENS

ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds for shipments with loose soil.

Plants shipped in pots are given special care in an effort to keep all soil in place. However, dirt happens! Sometimes soil is knocked loose during shipping. While this can be messy and inconvenient, soil loss - or even complete de-potting during transit will not hurt your plant. Even extreme improper handling during shipping is still less traumatic to a plant than a standard re-potting and root prune.

If there IS serious damage to your plant along with loose substrate, please file a shipping complaint (see below).

If there is NO or minor damage (scratches, leaf cracks, etc.) other than loose soil, there is no need for a damage report. Simply put the soil back in the pot, provide appropriate care, and the plant will flourish.

SHIPPING

We generally ship Tuesdays and Thursdays by USPS. During the cold weeks of winter, shipping is reduced to Monday or Tuesday only. It's imperative you (or someone) are available to open the box as soon as it is delivered to avoid damage caused by heat or cold. Delivery takes between 2 and 4 days. You will be sent tracking numbers for each order.

DAMAGED SHIPMENTS

ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or returns are offered or accepted. Once a package leaves here, I have no control over its care and handling.

Any shipment damaged by USPS must be photographed and reported to Morningwood Growers within 10 days of delivery. When received, I will submit an insurance claim for the order amount to USPS.

IF - and only if, the USPS covers the damaged shipment, you then have the choice of a refund or a replacement plant,

I SHOP ONLINE TOO

Morningwood Growers, A Lifetime of Fun

Thank you for your interest in my shop! As a teen, active in the Red Cross, I often was found tromping through the jungle, fascinated by the plants and animals around me. I had originally wanted to become a biologist, but as often it does, life chose a different path for me.

A creative director by trade, and a plant lover at heart, the decision to start selling beautiful, high quality plants was easy to make. Morningwood Growers is owned and operated by me, Savitri Brant, on my 5 acre farm in Sunny Florida. Just me folks - not a factory. Plants are my passion, not my full time job.

STORE POLICIES

RETURNS / REFUNDS
Plants are living things. All sales are final. No returns, refunds, or exchanges are offered for any reason. Damaged shipments can be reported to USPS for possible insurance compensation. For more, see section below, "DAMAGED SHIPMENTS".

SCRATCHES / BLEMISHES
Plants are living things. They scar just like we do. While each plant I mail out is the best quality possible, occasional small imperfections are likely as they are part of life. Imperfections include but are not limited to: scratches, scars, dents, blemishes, marks, yellow leaf, etc.

PLANT CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Eco conscious, I don't include printed care instructions for most plants. Written care instructions are found in each listing. And, you can always contact me through ETSY or email.

NEWSPRINT

An exceptional example are blanchtiana bromeliads. Under full sun, the plants leafs are short, 15 - 20 inches, bright yellow with red tints, growing to a height of around 1 to 2 feet. Those same plants, when grown in shade, have massive, long, green leafs that can reach 6 feet in height! They look nothing alike - and yet, they are the exact same plant as bromeliads produce clones of themselves.

Healthy plants, appearing different than listing photos, but are of the same species as the plant ordered, are not refundable.

THREATS BLACKMAIL LIBEL
Three words no one wants to read. But, unfortunately, it happens. On rare occasion, unscrupulous shoppers use the threat of a bad review or even the threat of opening a case with ETSY - to get whatever they are after.

The good news is most folks are honest and good. They understand it serves me no benefits to send out poor quality plants. I want each customer to be pleased not only with the plants they receive, but with the care I put into packaging and the length I am willing to go to explain plant care.

If you have a complaint, I will listen. If you are mistaken, I will provide you with a detailed answer as to why, explaining in as much detail (within reason) as you require. I know all the plants I sell. Let me help you make them beautiful.
