On a personal note: If you are shopping on Etsy, that means that you are looking for authentically handcrafted items by independent artisans. Awesome!
My drinking horns (and everything else) are made by me -- they are not mass produced in a warehouse, or slapdash put together! I make them myself in my own house. The horns are sanitized, scrubbed, sealed inside and then coated with beeswax, then sealed on the outside with three coats of scratch resistant varnish. Mine are finished and ready to drink from. If you bought a horn from somewhere else and it's gross or dirty inside, convo me and I will give you very detailed cleansing instructions. Never drink from an unsealed horn!!!! NEVER! If one of my drinking horns doesn't float your boat, there are AMAZING INDEPENDENT artists here who make incredible drinking horns! Some amazing stuff! Please do your research and support small business/real handmade items and avoid factory churned/mass produced/ reseller listed items. If someone buys a bulk lot of horns and then turns around and just resells them -- that's not handmade. It's not even clever. Contact me and I can even send you links to the amazing independent REAL shops. Look at the About pages in the shops. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES. And if you see a shop selling mass produced knock offs...report that shop to Etsy. If something is listed as vintage and it's not...report that shop to ETSY! We independent artists support each other and stand unified against unethical sellers who break the integrity rules of Etsy!

Shop statement:
I also encourage flights of fancy and whimsy!
I may use modern tools but my products are fashioned in the old way!

Usually items ship in 2-7 business days (depending on the product) unless otherwise noted or a rush order is requested. I ship domestically via USPS Priority Mail. International are parcel post with insurance.
I'm a one woman operation (except when I need to bring in another witch to help me finish a particular item and prepare it ritually) so some of the items may actually take the two - five business days to complete.

Any site that claims to sell magically charged items is full of hooey and totally conning you. Magic is personal. And remember you can't change someone's will (love spells will turn around and bite you on the bum and they don't really work anyway~). The handmade items from Morrigan's Mantel/Six Nations Witchery are cleansed and blessed for your own initial ritual use -- you must tune them to your intent and specific purpose. I may sell the soap, but you have to wash your own hands!
My products are not intended for use in any sort of negative/ritual way. That's not how I roll.

Ugh...now for the legalese -- These "pagan" items are sold as-is and I make no specific warranty or guarantee of their magickal properties or performance. As stated, I may sell the soap, but you wash your own hands. They may be viewed as curios, entertainment, or of spiritual value. Use them at your own discretion.

Ritual oils and bath supplies are for external use only. DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY. Please do not eat, drink, inhale, or anything else contrary to the designated use of my products.
*The mineral bath salts are for bathing. They will not serve any other purpose than ritual/spiritual cleansing, nor will they turn you into a flesh-craving zombie freak. So please, I sincerely ask that you not be "that" customer.*

My products are not intended to diagnose or treat any disorder, and are not meant to replace the advice of a medical professional. The ritual oils and bath salts are for meditation, relaxation, cleansing, and ritual/spiritual use before you cast.
Bright blessings upon you and may your path be well traveled!

For your purchasing convenience, Morrigan's Mantel can accept direct credit card payments through Etsy or you may use your paypal account.

I am also opening another Etsy shop in 2016 called Bottled Oddities that will feature whimsical curios.

I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a set of carved stones in the likeness of those found in the PC gaming classic Diablo II. They came out amazing! He totally geeked out over them. :-D

This is a simple and beautiful way to display the drinking horn I bought from this shop. It is sturdy and attractive. I love that the colors match the horn. I also had my husband's name engraved in runes on it. Let's just say I won all the brownie points this year! I received amazing customer service and quality items. I couldn't be happier!

I bought this for my husband's 30th birthday. It is beyond beautiful. The artwork is gorgeous, and the horn is very large. You can tell it was made with a lot of care and dedication to detail. I cannot give enough praise to the craftsmanship as well as the wonderful customer service!

About

How I do what I do...

I have been carving runes for over 29 years and making drinking horns for over 23 years! I grew up in the craft (I come from a long line of Irish Witches) so it's part of my everyday life.
Originally (way back in 2001) I had a website for my shop -- Six Nations Witchery -- at the advent of e-commerce.I was still getting used to the concept of corporate witches!
haha.
I had a wonderful time, but life moved forward and I had children. It was time to let my business take a wee rest. I still crafted personal items and did custom orders, but it was very local or through referrals. I live a wonderful life with a fabulous husband, two awesome Norse Gods disguised as my daughters, and a number of second-hand animals: cats, a stinky old dog, and a thundering clan of crows that keep me company outside.
In 2012, a friend who had a shop on Etsy, suggested I put some of my products together and open a store front.
I decided to name my shop Morrigan's Mantel, as an homage to my gal and go-to-Goddess, with my other company Six Nations Witchery still featured on labels and cards alongside the new name.
My focus is to create usable art and practical products for every pagan, or for anyone with an open and inquisitive mind.
I'm an old school witch, so I can guarantee my products are made in the oldest tradition while utilizing modern tools and supplies.
I believe in transparency and the integrity of being an independent artist. Feel free to convo me with any questions you have about my process, products, or manufacturing.

🐲I have multiple sources for the raw drinking horns. I truly believe in the safety and ethics of my products. I sterilize and sanitize each and every horn before I start working on it. I also do a ritual cleansing and blessing of the horn to remove any negativity and thank the animal for its horn.
It drives me mental seeing other folks sell horns that arrive raw and unclean -- that the customer must sanitize and seal themselves, or horns that have just been coated on the inside with wax and popped in the post -- you don't know if the horn was cleaned inside with a sanitizer beforehand! Blech! Also the use of former powder horns is so dangerous!!! Chemicals leach into the horn and then you drink that! No, no, no! ☹
When shopping for a new drinking vessel arm yourself with research.
There are some amazing new artists entering into the drinking horn market. I'm very excited to support their business and welcome them to the horn making community. I am also honored that many shops have adopted my policies and standards regarding sanitized drinking horns.
Personally, the reason I line my horns with beeswax on top of the lacquer sealant is because no resin is 100% food grade. Yes, technically once it cures it is safe to drink out of with cold beverages. Absolutely. Adding heat to this varnish can create "off gassing" which over time would lead to a breakdown in the chemical bond/structure of the resin and leach the chemicals into the food. Anything you consume-- beer, wine, alcohol -- is considered food. That is why hot beverages are not recommended for lacquer only sealed horns. Even envirotex lite is not recommended for vessels that will contain food per the company's material data safety sheet.
The beeswax effectively creates a barrier between the resin and any food you would have in the horn.
Now...dishwasher safe? NOPE.
Besides the heat factor, external varnish repeatedly exposed to high heat and moisture will yellow, crack, and degrade.
But it's a learning process I suppose.
I am more than happy to send you links for other horn makers here on Etsy if I don't have the horn you are looking for. Beautiful, handcrafted designs made by independent artisans and not mass manufactured in a warehouse somewhere. Please support small business ;-)
I have buckets and pots and pans filled with stones I've collected on walks, trips, and cool rock shops. I'm very careful and very choosy as to which stones I gather for my handcarved runes. I never remove a stone from a prohibited area, nor do I over pick from an area. But my pockets and jackets are always loaded with left over bits of sand and dirt from my expeditions!
I have sorting days where I go through my haul and match stones for rune sets.
I especially love found objects! And I get a kick out of repurposing/up-cycling common items into something unique and special!
I truly enjoy the artistic aspect of my craft.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!!!
My other Etsy shop, Bottled Oddities, will open in 2016 and features whimsical curios!
TRIVIA BONUS: For all of you Mercedes Lackey/Valdemar series fans out there who have sent me questions: Yes. I am Queen Selenay. Heh. I was contracted by Firebird Arts and Mercedes Lackey to write the music for and perform as Queen Selenay on the album Lovers, Lore, and Loss. There are fan videos of the songs Cost of the Crown and Battle Dawn on YouTube. So yes. I am that Shandeen ;-)
Have a bright, blessed, joyous day!

  • Looking much too serious!

    Owner, Maker, Designer

I am a witch, a mother, a musician, a writer, an artist, and I love crafting the items for my shop. I will spend hours sorting stones to get the "perfect" set of runes together. I let each horn's curve tell me what design should be there!

Almost all of the items are custom made per order. I understand OOPSIE, wrong button, and also buyer's remorse.
If you wish to cancel a non-custom purchase I offer 24 hours for a full refund. If you wish to cancel after 24 hours, and the item has not yet shipped I will work with you. If the item has been shipped, you must refuse the package so it will be sent back to me. I will keep the shipping charge.

For custom items I also offer 24 hours. If you wish to cancel beyond the 24 hours and I have already begun work on your item, I'll charge a 15% service fee (of the item purchase price) and return the balance (minus the service fee) of your payment to recoup the cost of supplies used for your order. But if you email me and explain why you need to cancel I will work with you.
If I have not started your custom order I will refund 100% of your purchase.
Shipping
I ship most items within 2-7 business days (please see individual shipping times on products) using USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation or first class with tracking for international packages. Your packages are insured.

International drinking horn shipping costs have gone up. I can ship via FIRST CLASS to save you money, but the item may take up to 2-3 weeks to arrive.
Priority shipping to Canada for a horn runs between $35-$49 dollars.
Priority shipping to Europe and EU can can run as high as $70.
If you need the item quickly then contact me for an exact priority quote.

I'm always available via Etsy convo, so if you need something sooner or wish to upgrade your shipping, just let me know!

International customers should email me as soon as their order is placed so that we can figure out the fastest, most convenient way to get your purchase to you!

*****Please note that International shipping is FOB. The BUYER is responsible for all costs of shipping, VAT, duties, tax, and customs fees.

Timing: Domestic shipping via Priority usually takes 3 - 5 days. We are all at the mercy of the postal service ;-)
Shipping to Canada via first class takes approximately 2.5 weeks unless we upgrade to priority and then it is about 10 days. It depends on customs clearance.
Shipping to Europe and elsewhere takes anywhere from 3 - 8 weeks via first class depending on Customs Release. Sometimes longer depending on the destination.

If an Internationally shipped NON CUSTOM order item is sent back by the postal service and marked "not called for" or "not picked up" or "refused package", I will convo you, the customer, for an explanation. If you wish the item to be be shipped again, I will send you an invoice for the shipping cost. That must be paid before I will ship again.
If you do not want the item and refuse delivery, I will refund your transaction minus the shipping cost, and retain the item. Purchase price refund, I keep the shipping cost.

CUSTOMIZED items returned for non-payment of VAT, duties, tax, not called for, not picked up, or refused will NOT BE REFUNDED without a very compelling and persuasive request. Send me a convo. I will work with you. If you want me to resend then you will have to pay shipping again before that happens.
Refunds and Exchanges
First off I want every customer to be happy and I will work to make sure you are completely satisfied with your transaction!!!

1: DAMAGE POLICY:
If your product arrives damaged I need you to send me photos of the damaged packaging and damaged item, and I will ask you to fill out a damage report for insurance purposes.

***When applicable, I pay for the cost of returning the item (through reimbursement) and will ship you a new item.

∞ ________________________________________________ ∞
***If YOU damage the item and would like me to repair it, send me photos of the damage. I will convo with you and provide an estimate for repair. All of my horns have a lifetime guarantee. They are meant to be used but not abused -- haha. If something chips or in that realm with normal wear and tear, I will fix it gratis. If you damaged it through neglect or misuse, well...I'll have to charge you. Once we have agreed on my fee, I will set up a reserve listing for the repair with a time estimate as well. You will purchase the listing and return the item. You must pay for return shipping for me to effect repair of the item -- shipping must be done with tracking and insurance. I will pay 1/2 the cost of shipping the repaired item back to you.
_____________________________________

2: REFUNDS AND RETURNS:
• Custom orders are "SALES FINAL". Drinking horns and other custom orders (personalized with your name in runes or ogham) are not refundable except for the following reasons: if there is a defect with the product or it was damaged in shipping. Sorry, but that's just the way it has to be.
But again, send me an email and we will try to work something out.

In order to issue a refund and accept a return of the purchased item, it must be in perfect unused condition. If there is an issue with your order (this DOES NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING DAMAGE -- SEE POLICY 1 ABOVE) you have SEVEN days to contact me for refund consideration.

*** I offer refunds based on the following:
Extreme circumstances: It has to be something very compelling. I understand that life sometimes throws curveballs. But I am an independent artist with a tight margin and can't just refund because you changed your mind ;-) Please send me a convo and we will work something out.
Once we have established that I will issue you a refund (convos are a must), you will pay for return shipping of the purchased item. I will refund the purchase price within 24 hours once I have confirmed return receipt of the item. You must ship with tracking confirmation and insurance. I will convo/email you my confirmation of receipt.
I will work with you ~ I want every customer to be happy ;-)

--INTERNATIONAL RETURNS/REFUNDS:
**** International/EU/Everywhere else: If your circumstances warrant a refund (etsy convos are needed to communicate issue), returns must be paid for by customer and you must ship using tracking and insurance. Once I have received the item I will convo you and then refund within 24 hours the original purchase price.
This does not apply to damage refunds/returns. Please see above DAMAGE POLICY (1)
________________________________________

3: LOST PACKAGE/NON-DELIVERY
***Domestic lost package: Because I use USPS priority we will be able to hunt down your package! If for some reason it has disappeared off of the face the earth, the insurance will reimburse the loss. You have two choices -- I can refund your purchase and consider the loss. Or I can replace the item.
Please convo me if the unthinkable happens and your package is lost!!!
You can let me know how you want to proceed.

*** International lost package:
I will supply you with the USPS documentation of mailing/customs tracking slip/insurance for your records.
International shipping takes 2-10 weeks, depending on method of shipping, so please be patient if your item does not arrive within 14 days (unless you have upgraded to expedited/overnight/priority). Customs clearance to certain countries from the USA can take 7-10 business days.
If your item has not arrived within the above stated time frame for international shipping I will open an insurance claim for the missing item. Once the case has been closed and paid, I will direct the replacement funds into your account within 24 hours.

***************************

If you receive the item and are not satisfied -- it simply isn't what you expected, please send me an email so we can work something out.
Additional policies and FAQs

I work hard and value my five star rating! Customer service is extremely important to me. Please contact me ASAP if you have any issue at all.
Blessed be!
