About

Telling stories of the deep, dark woods in every stitch...

In the deep dark woods amongst magic folk and talking animals, Mother Eagle lives. From here she whispers tales of potions made with poisonous toadstools, and secrets told to her by travelling beetles and the bones of her ancestors…

Katie Tume is an embroidery artist from Brighton, East Sussex. Born in 1980, she is a fifth-generation needleworker who first learned her craft at her mother’s knee. She attended the Surrey Institute of Art and Design as a Fashion and Illustration student, but is largely self-taught in hand embroidery techniques. She completed her first formal training in 2015 at The Royal School of Needlework in Coloured Metal Threadwork.

You can read about her fictional muse Mother Eagle here, in a short story she wrote about her.

Katie’s work is influenced by folklore, mythology, pagan societies and the old Gods.

PLEASE NOTE: All pieces are created lovingly and slowly by hand, so no two items are identical. Isn't that the wonderful thing about buying handmade?

Accepted payment methods

Payment
Payment is by PayPal. You can pay with your debit or credit card even if you do not have a PayPal account, however it is easy to set up a PayPal account if you have a valid email address. PayPal is free.

Once your payment has been accepted PayPal will send you a confirmation receipt.

Please note any payments made by eCheque through PayPal will only be dispatched when the funds have cleared.

Please ensure that the address listed with your PayPal account is the correct mailing address for you, and that it matches the one you submit on the site.

Please email me if there are any changes as soon as possible after purchase - responsibility cannot be accepted if your order is delivered to the wrong address!
Shipping
Postage and Packaging

All shipping within the UK is FREE for purchases up to £100. Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of hand-made embroidered items, for your peace of mind I always use Royal Mail Special Delivery as standard (except for ultra mini button badges which just go first class). A signature is required on delivery.

Jewellery items are beautifully gift wrapped as standard, for no extra charge.

Purchases over £100 are charged as near to what it costs me to ship Special Delivery. I do not make a profit on postage costs.

Delivery Times

If the piece you have bought is 'Ready To Ship' then it will be sent as soon as possible. Made to Order items are completed on a first come, first served basis and so if you need it by a certain date, please email me first to make sure I can fulffil your request.

There is usually a 2 week lead time on Made to Order pieces, but I always email you personally as soon as I receive your order, to let you know when I anticipate your bespoke item will be completed.

FRAMED ART: Shipping is via the most cost effective, insured method depending on size and weight.

To avoid delay PLEASE ensure you provide me with an accurate address as I am not responsible if no-one is at home to accept your package.

International Buyers

For larger jewellery I always use Royal Mail Airsure Small Packets. No signature is taken on delivery, and although not trackable outside the UK, it provides conformation on delivery at destination.
For small buttons/badges the item is sent international standard.

Purchases between £50 and £100 are charged at £11.50; Shipping to Europe on purchases over £100 is £13.17, and to the rest of the world £16.95.

To avoid delay PLEASE ensure you provide me with an accurate address as I am not responsible if no-one is at home to accept your package.

**PLEASE NOTE!** International buyers are responsible for any and all duties and customs charges that may be incurred!

Estimated STANDARD delivery times via Airsure for countries outside the UK are as follows:

Europe: approximately 2-4 working days
USA & Canada: approximately 4 working days
Australia, Japan, New Zealand: approximately 4-5 working days

Don’t forget – I cannot be responsible for the post – these dates are guidelines only!
Refunds and Exchanges
Refunds and Exchanges

Jewellery is a matter of personal taste, and I understand it can be tricky buying online. I always take extra time and care to make sure all my work is excellent and your experience as my customer is flawless. However if you are not happy with your item then I am more than happy to refund you**.

Under UK Distance Selling Regulations, you are entitled to a full refund within 30 days of receiving your item if you get your beautiful piece of jewellery home and it's not right. In this event, please contact Mother Eagle within 7 working days of receipt to let me know what's wrong so I can try and fix things for you.

All returns must use the same postal service by which it was sent to you (Royal Mail Special Delivery in UK, Airsure for everywhere else). This is essential as returns lost in transit are not Mother Eagle's responsibility. Please do this within 30 days of receipt (or 7 days for sale items) stating whether you require an exchange or a refund. Exchanges are available for items returned after 30 days.

**THE ABOVE ONLY APPLIES IF THE ITEM YOU BOUGHT WAS 'READY TO SHIP'. SALES OF ITEMS 'MADE TO ORDER' ARE FINAL - NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES**

Please note that all refunds will include any original postage and packing costs incurred by you, but not costs to return the item (unless faulty).

For all exchanges postage will not be reimbursed unless faulty.

**PLEASE** Always get in touch first with any problems!

**CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY**

To keep enjoying your Mother Eagle jewellery for years to come I offer this advice:

- I highly recommend you do not get your pieces wet - do not wear them in the bath, shower or swimming pool.
- When you are not wearing your jewellery, please keep in a jewellery box, or in the felt pouch it comes in, to protect from dust.
- Keep them out of direct sunlight so that the colours stay vibrant.
- Each individual embroidery is full of beautiful detail and rich texture - enjoy touching them! However, your hands do contain oils and acids that may discolour textiles over time, so please bear this in mind.

The wooden mounts although not made by me, are custom made to my specifications and are laser cut from sustainable birch wood.

Mother Eagle art and jewellery is not intended for children - please take care.

**CARING FOR YOUR ART**

- The same applies as above where relevent but I emphasise that you hang your art in a spot out of very direct sunlight, to keep the natural silk colours from fading and bleaching.
- It is possible to remove your lace doily from the frame, as it is simply held in place with double sided fabric tape, but again, minimal handling will ensure you enjoy this piece for decades to come.

Mother Eagle products are happily handmade in a pet-friendly, but smoke free household.
