About

Handcrafted Functional Art Pottery by Stacy G Smith in North Carolina

I'm a wife, mother, professional potter with a BFA in Environmental Design and Communication Arts from East Carolina University, an avid gardener, photographer and all around nature lover.
I was hooked on clay after my first ceramics class in college and took as many classes as I could, then after graduation I started teaching k-12 Art in the public schools. I've worked in Mississippi, Venezuela and Colorado. I taught for twelve years before I opened my own pottery studio and etsy shop. Half of those years were spent teaching high-school ceramics and sculpture. I loved and learned so much from teaching, but now I'm living my dream as a professional art potter working from my home in beautiful Greensboro, NC next to a large pond in four acres of woods. I can sit at my potter's wheel and watch the two farm ducks swim around the pond as I throw pots. I feel so very lucky.
I do all the clay design and production as well as the shipping, marketing and answering of emails. My talented husband helps with computer problems, kiln maintenance, studio music, lighting, furniture building and heavy lifting. Don't know what I'd do without him.
I work hard to make beautiful and interesting things that are useful and durable with good craftsmanship, attention to design, form and glaze application. I use only the highest quality clay and glazes. I'm primarily using three types of high fire clays, a red stoneware, a white stoneware and a nice white porcelain. I use a variety of techniques for surface decoration such as: hand-brushed glazing, carved slip designs or sgraffito, underglaze painting, carving or incising and stamping.
My inventory is always growing and changing and new work is being posted regularly so please check back often! I check my shop daily and ship using US Priority Mail usually within 24-48 hours of purchase.
Thank you for taking time to look at my work!

Shipping
** I ship to the address you provide via PayPal. Please be sure your Etsy and PayPal addresses match. **

Items will be shipped 1-3 days after I have been notified of receipt of payment by PayPal or Credit card. If you use a PayPal e-check then I must wait for payment to clear before shipping. This usually takes 4-7 days. I use USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation within the U.S. I do like to reuse like-new boxes and bubble wrap when possible.

International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; I have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond my original delivery estimates. All international orders will have full value declared on customs forms - no exceptions.
Refunds and Exchanges
I hope that you are thrilled with your purchase but please contact me if there is a problem. Most items are made and ready to ship so the photos you see are the actual item in each listing. I’m happy to send more photos prior to purchase. Please ask any questions about your item. I am glad to do exchange or return for you. Shipping charges will not be refunded and there are no refunds on custom orders.
Additional policies and FAQs
If breakage occurs during shipping, I will need to have a photo of the broken pot emailed to me or the item shipped back for you to receive a refund or replacement.
