Teaching an enameling workshop at Brooklyn Metal Works
I'm deeply dedicated to making jewelry with my hands.
In 2004, I spent a pivotal year at The Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina where I was introduced to a world of jewelry in which style and tradition were elements to be discussed and explored. Inspired, I attended the State University of New York (SUNY) New Paltz, earning a Masters of Fine Art in Metal in 2008. After grad school I moved to New York City, where I soon began a year-long residency at the Museum of Arts and Design.
Today I balance my life between my studio practice and a day job at Etsy, where I work on the Security Team. I also teach a range of classes at Brooklyn Metalworks in Prospect Heights.
My artwork explores the transition from two-dimensional drawings to three-dimensional sculptural forms. I use color, texture and materials to tempt viewers closer for a more intimate consideration of my jewelry. I fabricate, cast, and enamel. I burn through audio books in my studio while drinking coffee and hammering out jewelry.
I have participated in jewelry exhibitions-- as an exhibitor and curator-- throughout the US and Europe. My work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) and Galerie Marzee, as well as several private collections. Images of my jewelry have been published in The Compendium Finale of Contemporary Jewellery 2008 and 500 Enameled Objects.
I live, work and teach in Brooklyn, New York. I love life in NYC.
