About

Ocean-Inspired Artwork from a not-so-typical science teacher.

As long as I can remember, I've always loved to draw, paint, and make things. Although I love the objectiveness of numbers, facts, and science, there is a part of me that loves to improvise and create something new and exciting. I think that's why I feel like I've truly found my niche in being a high school science teacher. It appeals to my left-brain need for evidence-based explanation, but requires my right-brain creativity to convince a 14 year old that its exciting and worth learning. When I'm in the mood for creativity outside of my classroom, I turn to drawing and painting.

For most of my life, drawing and painting was just a hobby that I kept to myself. Yet when I began to plan my wedding, I decided to show my crafty side to my friends and family by creating ocean-inspired watercolors as part of the reception decor. Towards the end of the evening, many guests began to ask if they could take my artwork home. I was so excited to share with them something that I had created, and honored they thought it good enough to put it in their home. At the end of the evening every single one of my watercolors had been claimed, and that is when I decided I needed to keep sharing my creations.

I hope you enjoy my ocean-inspired artwork as much as I enjoy creating it. Every single one is done by hand, and no two are exactly alike. Thanks for stopping by my shop, and come back soon!

Thank you for stopping by to look at my Ocean-Inspired Artwork! I've always enjoyed making arts and crafts in my spare time, and after much encouragement from friends and family I decided to open my own Etsy shop. As a science teacher I am very aware of the fragility of our planet, and try to reduce, reuse, and recycle whenever possible. This mentality has worked its way into my art, where I use dictionary pages that were headed for the landfill as the background to my unique watercolors. Each painting is hand drawn and painted after you order it, which means you get a one of a kind piece of art that is entirely customizable!
