Announcement   Hi - My name is Michael Moran. I am presently working at 3rd Degree Glass Factory in St. Louis. My work in functional wares is focused on the creation of beautiful and useful objects for the home and office, employing a modern aesthetic using classic platonic shapes – the sphere, hemisphere, cylinder, and cone – as the basis of form. Fresh combinations of transparent and opal colors enliven each piece. My sculptural work with glass is focused on the synthesis of very tightly controlled blowing and cold-working techniques with the fluid quality of the hot material. I contrast geometric form with organic form in an effort to break down conventional expectations about the use, posture, and perception of blown glass objects.

Mike was incredibly helpful with my requests; he worked with me to get the pint glasses I needed quickly. The glasses are beautiful. I'm sure I'll purchase from him again!

Shop policies

Last updated on February 5, 2011
Welcome to MtM Design, founded by Michael Moran, architect and glass artist. Please review the shop policies and don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have in regards to making an order.
Glass objects are complex and visually rich objects, and it can be difficult to fully grasp the reality of a piece through photography alone. Nevertheless, we want you to be fully confident in your on line purchase. Examine your purchase closely immediately upon receipt. If you have any questions about it, please call me and I will be happy to discuss them with you. If the item is not the size, color, or shape expected, an exchange can be arranged for a customized piece addressing the problem. If there is an insurmountable problem, a refund can be arranged. In the case of exchange or refund, we ask that the customer pay for the shipping expenses.

Payment
We accept payment through Pay-Pal, or will accept a check or money order made payable to MtM Design LLC. We will package and ship your purchase upon receipt of payment in full. Certain items shown are unique and we will hold such items for 10 days upon ordering while we await your payment, after which time the item will be relisted for sale on the site. Missouri customers must pay Missouri sales tax (7.575%).
Shipping
Your work will be shipped via UPS, and will be fully insured against breakage. All work is safely packaged and double boxed to prevent breakage. The work is amply wrapped in bubble wrap paper and tightly fitted into the inner box or boxes. The inner boxes are packed into an outer box separated on all sides by a tightly packed layer of foam peanuts. The piece is secure against shifting around during transit, and isolated from impacts. Products are shipped by standard ground unless a special request is made for expedited delivery. Products “in stock” are packaged and shipped within three business days. Products that need to be manufactured will be scheduled for production upon commissioning and receipt of one half the purchase price, at which time you will be advised as to the likely time at which your order will be produced. Once the order is complete, you will be notified and upon payment of the account balance the order will be shipped as noted above. Items will be shipped to the address provided on the Etsy invoice, not Paypal. If you have any special requests, shipping or otherwise, please use the "message to seller" option in the Etsy order form.
Refunds and Exchanges
We want you to be happy with your purchase and completely satisfied. Therefore we offer an opportunity to exchange your purchase or obtain a refund in the event that you are not satisfied. The basis of exchange or refund is clear communication with us about the problem you have with the products you receive. Requests for exchange or refund must be made within 7 days of receipt. Please review the statement regarding the properties of handmade glass; dissatisfaction based on handmade qualities will not be accepted as a valid reason for exchange or refund. In the rare case of breakage during delivery, please photograph the damaged item and call immediately to make a claim. We will refund your purchase price and shipping cost, or reproduce and resend the item at no cost to you according to your instructions.
Additional policies and FAQs
All items are handmade. There may be small inclusions, or air bubbles, as is common in hand blown glasswork. These do not detract from the beauty or value of the piece.

Seconds: Glass blowing is a difficult process and there are many opportunities for things to go awry. Seconds are pieces with technical flaws that present no risk to the customer, but have a visual impact and therefore affect quality. Seconds include off center work, tilted or slightly off kilter form, tool marks, large seed bubbles, tiny flecks of refractory (stones), veils in color overlays and markings from annealing, to name a few common problems. Seconds are noted and the price listed is discounted accordingly.
Items sold as Seconds: Seconds never include dangerous or risky flaws such as checks, cracks, sharp edges, stress from improper annealing or color fit, large stones, convex surface air bubbles, etc. Such work is kept by the artist or destroyed/recycled.

If you have commissioned a custom piece based on a design shown on line, I will produce the piece as discussed upon receipt of 50% of the purchase price (100% for orders less than $100). Photos of the finished piece will be e-mailed to you for confirmation that the work meets your requirements. Upon receipt of payment in full the order will be shipped.
