Announcement   WELCOME TO MY SHOP. I have quite a variety of merchandise - one-of-a-kind bead necklaces, vintage treasures, Gladys Taber books, quilt/craft items, and more. I am constantly adding new items to my offerings, so please return often for a look. Questions are gladly received and answered promptly as buyer satisfaction is important to me. Enjoy your perusal!

Add a personal statement to any outfit with my one-of-a-kind, handcrafted (from natural/enhanced stone/gemstone, vintage Czech glass, porcelain) necklaces. Incorporate simple joy into your life - it's more economical than a therapist. My necklaces are truly one-of-a-kind...once a necklace sells, you will never see it again. So, do not let your favorite(s) get away!

A complimentary drawstring gift bag made by Etsy shop mgl5213 (go to About) OR a white paper covered cardboard gift box (5 1/4" x 3 3/4" x 7/8") is included with each necklace purchase while my supplies lasts. Please CONVO me at purchase if you have a preference.

FYI - Metal clasps and beads will tarnish and will need to be wiped with a polishing cloth from time to time if you do not desire the natural-occuring patina. Also, I can reduce the length of most necklaces at your special request at time of purchase.

Check out my Various Vintage section which includes collectibles and miscellany; Vintage Gladys Taber includes books written by Gladys Taber or those that contain her writings; Vintage Quilting/Crafts are books, patterns and kits related to quilting and other crafts I have dabbled in over the years; Vintage Supplies/Fabric focus on sewing - I am reevaluating my personal collection - a person has to downsize occasionally - keeps life interesting!

In addition, I have a few hand knitted (by me) scarves and blank greeting cards with images photographed by me, of course.

And, I started to add a few pierced earrings made from the same natural stones/gemstones that I use in my one-of-a-kind necklaces for those who are looking for a pairing of neck and ear adornment.

I have quite a mix of offerings. I hope something meets your needs or your fancy.

Thank you for visiting my Etsy shop.

P.S. Take a peek at my blog at stillmountainserentiy.blogspot.com for tidbits into my creative side focusing on my original necklace creations and including the many facets that make me...me! FYI - I do not update this blog very often because I am usually busy creating.

About

My Newest Passion

How did you start your shop? How does it all work?

I attended a class (I am always wanting to learn new crafts/arts) to make bead necklaces for myself and as gifts for family and friends. I became addicted and I could not stop making necklaces. I did not need 100+ necklaces for my own use, so I decided to sell them which gave me the opportunity to make even more one-of-a-kind creations. What FUN! And, what better place to sell these OOAK necklaces than in an Etsy Shop...so, I opened MtnGlen.

I added vintage items and craft supplies from my own personal stash. I am a packrat at heart, but realized that it was time to do a bit of down-sizing.

Lastly, I included other items that I had created as I explored some of my other passions ie. photography, knitting, and crafting. The more I sell, the more I can keep making. Definitely a win-win!

Shop policies

Last updated on August 22, 2016
Greetings! Welcome to my Etsy shop.

I hope you enjoy my unique, original, one-of-kind necklaces.

I create each piece as if I am making it for my own use while being mindful that I would like to please a variety of tastes. I have to be totally satisfied with the final design, or I make revisions until I am.

I incorporate natural gemstones/stones (wonderful, fabulous, exciting - Did I mention I love natural gemstones/stones?) and porcelain; therefore, variations inherent to each bead may be evident. Each bead is unique. These variations add interest to the overall charm of each necklace. I have also added Czech glass beads, most vintage, to my bead inventory. Also, a very few dyed/enhanced beads become a part of some of my designs even though I thought I would never use these beads. Sometimes color is more important than using 'natural' in a design.

Since Czechoslovakian is my heritage, I really like using the vintage Czech glass beads when possible. These beads gives me a sense of appreciation and connection to my roots.

Natural means that the gemstone/stone has not been enhanced - not dyed, not heat treated, not chemically treated (to name a few) which changes the color or other properties of the stone from how it is found in nature. Natural gemstones/stones will continue to be the major component of many of my designs.

Turquoise is always enhanced if it is used in jewelry-making - it is too soft to use without stabilization and the stone is usually dyed to get that recognizable color. Since Turquoise is my birthstone and a favorite stone of mine, I tend to over look the enhancements so that I can incorporate it into my designs.

My selling prices are based on the cost of my supplies I use for each item. The cost varies with each supply purchase I make. If I get a deal, you get a deal.

I use 'professional quality' beading wire to string all my necklaces and I use accuguards to further protect this strong wire at the clasps in about 99% of my designs.

Inspiration surrounds me. I design and compose each necklace from my tranquil farm in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The process...pure relaxation and contentment. And, FUN!

Most of my inspiration does come from my farm surroundings, but some items have been inspired from memories...from my childhood, from holidays, from friends.

The combinations are endless; thus, I will continue to offer only one-of-a-kind, beaded, simply stated necklaces.

Share in the pleasure...

Note: I take most photos using natural light. Occasionally, the color of the beads is not portrayed as the true color on the photos. I retake these photos, but sometimes the camera will just not duplicate the color as I see the color. Also, computer monitors may not duplicate the color exactly. And, in reality, the color of the beads will change slightly as the lighting of the wearer changes - very similar to what happens to the color on the walls in your home - color looks one way on a sunny day and a different way on a cloudy day. I will take and forward more photos on request. Please check out all photos and description included with the item to get as much information about the necklace as possible. Embrace the color nuances of these one-of-a-kind necklaces - that is all part of the fun!

I do offer the following: buy two or more necklaces and pay only one shipping to the same address - shipping is $6.10 for any number of necklaces purchased during the same transaction to the same address. The more you buy, the less you pay per necklace based on my shipping fee policy.

To keep costs to a minimum, I package my items as basic as possible, yet providing product protection during shipping. Frugality was a big part of my upbringing. Fancy tags are pretty, but hardly necessary to the quality of the product itself. My savings become your savings.

I will continually add more necklaces from time to time, so keep looking at my shop. Remember...my necklaces are one-of-a-kind. Once a particular necklace sells, you will never see that exact design again.

I will also be adding other merchandise from my treasure trove, my personal collection, of handmade/vintage/supply items. To be honest, I am quite a pack rat and I cherish each and every possession for one reason or another; but, the time has arrived for me to begin reducing 'my stuff'. My kids have voiced their appreciation.

And, I will also add an interesting 'found' item occasionally as I cannot give up my antiquing vice. If I see a desirable item that I think would appeal to one of my followers, I will buy it to pass along to another collector. I am all for 'saving/preserving' bits of history.

In addition, I have just added a new item - my photography printed, by a professional lab, onto greeting cards. I am starting slow with a three image, three card set. But, I have my sights set on expanding. I love to take photographs.

Again, thanks for taking a look at my shop. Your interest and your purchases are much appreciated!

Payment
Payment by Paypal or Money Order made out to STILLFOREST. Thank you.
Shipping
All items are carefully packed and shipped. Shipping will be prompt - usually 1-2 business days after receipt of payment, but I have been known to ship the same day as the purchase is made. Actual delivery is USPS dependent. Check the tracking often to follow your purchase to your door. Also, I include a copy of the receipt in the shipment. If I am sending the package directly to a gift recipient, please let me know so that I can remove any reference to price paid.

All shipping/packaging rates quoted are based on the estimated packaged shipping weight for shipping within the United States only. Variation is caused by the actual packaged weight. Shipping fee excesses over $0.50 will be promptly refunded. Shipping shortfalls are covered by me. I do recycle boxes, envelopes and bubble wrap when I can.

Please ask for International shipping rates (buyer responsible for any customs fees and taxes levied).

I want you to receive your purchases as quickly and safely, yet as affordable, as possible. Purchases will be shipped via the most economical and at the fastest method the paid shipping allows. USPS Priority, USPS First Class, Standard Post, and Media Mail (books only) will be used. Please be mindful of increasing postal rates.

Most necklaces are shipped in boxes, not padded envelopes, for extra protection. A few very lightweight necklaces will be shipped in a bubble envelope to save on your shipping cost. I will inform you if the bubble envelope is the option that will be used.

Greeting card sets are shipped in bubble envelopes.

If your package and enclosed item(s) have been damaged via shipping, please see instructions under Refund Policy.
Refunds and Exchanges
Please understand that all sales are final. With the service fees associated with PayPal, ETSY and the USPS, returns would be very costly for both parties.

Please review photos and ask questions to make sure you know what you are purchasing. Buyer satisfaction is very important to me. I check my Etsy account often, so my response is very timely.

Please contact me within 5 days if a damaged item is received. Refund considerations will be made at that time. Some items include insurance for loss or damage. As applicable, proof of damage or loss of contents: if you received a damaged item or items are missing from a package, please keep the contents received and the associated packing materials until my claim is settled. You may be asked to take them to their local Post Office for inspection.
Additional policies and FAQs
All items come from my smoke-free home.

Sorry - no custom creations at this time. I work completely via inspiration, not from plans or patterns. Therefore, each necklace or bracelet is truly unique, original and one-of-a-kind.

If a necklace is too long, I can usually reduce the length by removing some beads. Please make any special request at time of purchase. Details of changes will be discussed and must be satisfactory to you, the purchaser. I want all my customers to be satisfied.
