From backpacker to model to seamstress.....

I grew up on the beach in Australia and when I was 20, bought a one way ticket to Europe to go backpacking. After a few months I was "discovered" in Tuscany, which is very funny to me because I think I was probably more of a liability than a discovery (so clumsy!) I have been so fortunate to live in many cities, but my big loves are Paris and Milan. My perception of style has been greatly influenced by their beauty and elegance.

Through modelling I fell head over heels in love with garment construction and fabric, and really all I wanted to do was learn about how these gorgeous clothes were made! In between shots on set or backstage at a show or fitting, I'd study the garments' seams and would sit around talking with stylists and designers into the wee hours about our shared passion for clothes, fashion and for making women feel beautiful. I officially knew I was in the wrong role in the fashion industry one day while I was being fitted by Giorgio Armani. I clearly remember thinking how chic his seamstresses were, flitting around us in their crisp white smocks :) Not long after that I started a patternmaking and garment construction course here in Milan.

I love every stage in the process of making clothes, and the idea that all I need is paper, a pencil, a tape measure and a right angle to draft anything my imagination comes up with is so delicious and liberating to me. I challenge myself to design pieces that flatter a variety of shapes and sizes, and I keep my silhouettes simple, to give voice to the incredibly beautiful Italian fabric that I work with.

I have been making clothes for ladies in Milan for a few years now, but that I am able to sell my designs in my own shop to women all over the world is truly a dream come true and for that, I am enormously grateful.
Thanks for visiting Muguet Milan!

I start to process your order only after payment has been confirmed / cleared.

For custom orders, I create a private listing just for you, which must be purchased before I commence garment construction. It is a little bit of protection for me because I work hard to source fabrics and pay for them in advance for my custom orders. Thank you for understanding :)
Garments that are already made usually ship within a couple of working days. Made to order garments usually ship within 10 days. At certain times of the year I do get a little bit swamped with orders, but very rarely does it take me longer than two weeks to process an order. I work in chronological order except for major emergencies. So please, if you have a crazy deadline let me know and I will see what I can do for you, but keep in mind that there will usually be someone in front of you in the line :)

I ship using Poste Italiane registered mail. Currently, it is trackable up to when it leaves Italy. Once shipped, I send a shipping notification with the tracking number for your record. Registered Mail requires a signature on delivery. Your postal service will attempt delivery, but if nobody is found at the address to sign for the package, they usually leave a notice for pick-up at your local PO. If the package is not claimed after 14 days, IT WILL BE SENT BACK TO ME IN ITALY. If this occurs, re-postage costs are the responsibility of the buyer. Please allow 10-25 days for delivery. If express postage is required for any reason, we can convo about a shipping upgrade to a courier.

Registered mail does not require a customs declaration from my end, but if any fees are incurred, these are the responsibility of the buyer.
Refunds and Exchanges
I am an avid online shopper, and I know what is important in a return /exchange policy :)
I will gladly exchange your garment for a different size if possible. Return postage paid for by you, re-postage of replacement garment paid for by me.
In the case of a client not being happy with their garment for any reason - For example, it doesn't sit on you how you hoped it would, I will gladly offer you a refund for the garment and the original postage you paid me. I will issue the refund when I receive the returned garment. Two important things please: 1) the garment absolutely must not have been worn. 2) Please be sure to write RETURN very clearly on the envelope or tick 'returned goods' on the postal declaration if you are outside the EU, otherwise customs duty will have to be paid, and that will have to come out of your refund.
One last suggestion to keep in mind....if you send the garment back to me using slow mail, you will be waiting a much longer time for your refund. You might consider paying a few extra dollars for faster (and safer) shipping. I can't refund you for items that I haven't received.

Sizing details

Bodice: This refers to the circumference of your chest not your bust. To measure this take a measuring tape and run this around yourself under your armpits, holding it firmly but not so that it digs into you.

Bust: Bust refers to the circumference of the most protruding part of your chest. Please measure yourself with the bra that you would most likely wear with the garment because this may change the measurements.

Waist: Waist refers to your natural waist, which in many cases corresponds to the circumference around your belly button.

Hips: This is the circumference of the widest part of your pelvis. Most women find that they hold the tape around their bottom to find this measurement.

Care instructions

I HIGHLY recommend dry cleaning linen, silk, viscose (rayon) and wool garments. Even though they are natural fibers, they can shrink and/or lose their lustre if washed.

My synthetic silk (polyester) pieces can be washed delicately, and drip dried. Cool iron.

My cotton pieces can be washed delicately in warm water, and line dried. Hot iron.
