About

God is creative, therefore we who are created in His image are too!

I grew up inn an Air Force family, in a family with 2 parents, 2 siblings, and one dog which was always a boxer named Bootsie. (Bootsie I, Bootsie II, Bootsie III etc!) Growing up military meant that I didn't have enough time in one place to form solid friendships and I spent a lot of time alone when not in school, doing crafty things like embroidery and painting, or playing/practicing the piano.

I can look back now and see the path I navigated in the last 50 or so years, and frankly, I wouldn't change a thing - I've been on a journey and it's mine, with all the ups, downs, and turnarounds. Didn't like school at all, but went for 16 1/2 years. At 21 I married Chuck and spent 11 yrs raising his son, who had lost his mom at the ripe age of 3.

4 years ago I said good bye to Chuck as he stepped into eternity. The last year with him, when we battled his cancer, was the most difficult year of my life. I had no idea what direction my life would be taking! My entire focus for 30+ years had been home, family, and church.

During those years I'd been expanding my arts and crafts experience to quilting, more painting, and beading. I began to make jewelry out of all the beads and crystals I'd collected over the years, and eventually realized that if I didn't start selling some of them, I'd have to quit making jewelry if I wanted to be able to get through my studio amidst all the totes and boxes of quilting supplies and beads!!

Today I'm living in my remodeled, colorful home, complete with my own office/art studio! I dedicated it to the Lord and eventually named it Patience Home (He gave me the name on the day Leann moved in-more on that in a minute). I am one woman, with 2 dogs and a cat. The original 3 bedroom ranch home I've lived in since 1981 has become a 3 bedroom home PLUS an apartment at the west end of the house (where I live). WHY did I enlarge my home?

Jesus Christ has given me an authentic love for people because HE loves me sincerely and furiously. In this new phase of my life I find myself not only meeting more people than I ever have before, but also in a position to offer real help. I added an apartment to my home and the original 3 bedrooms became a guest room plus 2 low cost rooms for rent that accommodate 3 women. Unlike most rental situations, once interviewed and accepted into Patience Home, women become family to me, along with my 3 furbabies. The women are usually recovering from serious addictions and interested in enlarging and normalizing their lives - my desire is to walk alongside them as they learn about the true source of peace and joy, learning also to live in the 'real' world in His presence, while holding on to their sobriety. It's a transitional living situation because as soon as they feel confident about being on their own, they usually move on. I don't push them out, though... there's no deadline on confidence and readiness!

The income from the art you purchase from me is one of my income sources that I use to keep ahead of expenses (not covered by the low rent I charge) and to pay people (who don't live here but still need a little extra) to do odd jobs around my house, a win/win deal. My handmade, original designs are the creative expression of my life as it is today - my spirit is communicated in my work, and passed on to you.
