Incorporating knit and crochet techniques into the toy making process.
I never knew I wanet to make (crochet or knit) toys in particular. It all started at really young age for me by just wanting to do what my grandma did. So she was the first person to introduce me to knitting. And every time I knit, in my mind I keep the sweet memory of her.
Then, years later a young girl (I was 10 and she was 9) showed me crochet. I fell in love with it. I started making clothes for my dolls (they were pretty bad, but for me it was a big deal).
Then, fast forward to 15 or so years later, motivated and inspired by my colleagues at work I came back to knit and crochet and I haven't stopped since. I am now a mother and I guess that is one of the things that inspires me to make toys. I like crochet, and I love knitting. I really like incorporating them both into my patterns because, on one hand, I think they complement each other and on the other hand, both techniques bring sweet memories in my mind. I'd like to think of it as a way of honoring the memory of my grandma and also making that strong friendship at that young age through crochet.
So that's it, my story and the reason behind why I don't knit only or crochet only.
I am Mimi and I'd love to share my patterns with anyone interested in this type of craft and way of living.
