Sing in the Sunshine
I loved tiedye in the 60s and dabbled a little in it, making tshirts for me and my toddler daughter. I didn't try it again until I retired, after a 40 year career in I.T. I picked it up again on a whim, and was amazed at how much things had changed. Instead of dyeing in a pot on the stove, cold, liquid dye can be poured directly onto the material. Wow! The possibilities! Then, I discovered ice-dyeing, where tied items are covered with ice, and dry powdered dye is applied. As the ice melts, the dye dissolves and flows wherever it wants, mixing with other colors to form new colors. It is impossible to dye the same pattern twice, Even more WOW!!
Tiedye is a hobby for me. My shop is small, and will remain so. I love trying new things, and tiedye provides a wonderful creative outlet for me.
In the summer of 2015, I began selling at the local Farmer's Market. It was wonderful! It was so great to see people check out my merchandise. Selling online, you don't get to see the smiles and hear the comments. If you're in AZ this summer, come check out the Payson Farmer's Market.
My shop has been evolving over time. When I opened it, I focused on silk scarves, tshirts, onesies, and ponchos. These days, I am concentrating more on women's clothing: ponchos, tunics, dresses, skirts, vests, leggings, jackets, scarves. The majority of the items are made of rayon. Rayon just feels so good, doesn't cling, drapes beautifully, and usually comes out of the dryer wrinkle-free! New items that are added to my shop will be dyed using the ice-dye method; I just love the results. It's always exciting rinsing out the dye, wondering what have I created this time.
I use Procion dyes, which provide permanent, non-fading color. It requires a fixer, which allows it to actually form a bond with the fabric. Each cotton item is washed before dyeing, and all items (cotton, rayon, bamboo) are washed twice after dyeing. This removes about 99% of the dye from the fabric. I recommend that you wash your purchases alone one more time, and they will be safe to wash with other items thereafter. Rayon is very FRAGILE when wet, so handle it with care. When dry, it is strong like cotton. I recommend washing rayon in a mesh bag in your washing machine, or wash by hand, if you prefer.
The detergent I use is fragrance free, hypo allergenic, and I never use fabric softener. All items are dyed in my home, which is smoke free. However, I do have pets. Finished products are stored away from my pets.
Custom orders are welcome. If you see something you like, but need it in a different size, or prefer a different color combo, just convo me! I don't sew, though, so I can't do alterations for you.
I hope you enjoy shopping here, and find something that you like.
I loved tiedye in the 60s and dabbled a little in it, making tshirts for me and my toddler daughter. I didn't try it again until I retired, after a 40 year career in I.T. I'm having too much fun!
Items include women's tops, dresses, leggings, and scarves, and also tshirts, doggie shirts, bandanas, and infant clothing. I love to try new color combinations and then dye six or so various items in it. You won't see all of my color combos listed in any single item type. If you don't see a particular color / design combination displayed in the size you would like, please contact me and I will be happy to accommodate you.
My shop is small, so I try not to carry a lot of inventory. If I receive an order for an item (clothing blank) that I have in stock, it is generally ready to ship within about 3-4 days. If I need to order the item, I can usually ship within about a week. Occasionally, something goes wrong, I spill some dye, or something, and I need extra time to make a replacement. Because of this, I have my shipment times for made-to-order items set at 1-2 weeks.
All items are dyed with permanent, fiber reactive dyes, so they won't fade or wash out. After the dye process, I wash each item twice, once to halt the bonding of the dye, and the second to remove all excess dye.
If this item is a gift, let me know, and I'll add a note card, with your message. I will also email your receipt, rather than include it in the package.
