Throughout history, turned wooden bowls have captured the imagination of every civilization. They started out as simple functional vessels used for thousands of years as dishes or serving items, but here, they are transformed into artistic forms.
If you like the look and feel of natural wood, you will like these hand-made objects of art. Each one is unique, showing the beauty of one or several types of wood.
Every piece is conceived and completed in our home shop in northern Minnesota, hand-crafted and turned on a lathe by my husband. Some are made of a single piece of wood, while others are constructed using hundreds of pieces to make a single bowl. No two are the same. Some take several days to make. The wood may be local or exotic; a hard non-toxic finish is used to bring out the natural beauty of each piece.
Our bowls may be used to grace a bookshelf, mantle or desk, enjoyed just for their pleasing shape, color and grain. They are timeless objects, which can be used in almost any decor to add visual interest. Gift giving can be difficult for the person who has everything but these bowls make wonderful gifts for the discerning household.
Our lidded bowls are also popular as a final resting place for the ashes of beloved pets. In order to facilitate the rememberance of the loved one, we offer to customize our lidded products by adding a paw print medallion and even the name of the pet.
I hope you get as much pleasure from them as we have in making them.

Pet Urns & Artistic Bowls
Having worked with wood for years, Darrell started turnng pieces on his lathe as a hobby. Margo needed to free up some shelf space so decided to sell a few at craft fairs. They went so well she decided to put a few online. The Pet Urns are so well received that we decided to specialize in them.
Everything on our site is made here in Mn. using many of our native woods with some other woods used for accents.
Any of the Artistic Bowls could also be used as Pet Urns and the lids can be changed for a Pawprint lid if desired.
The standard formula for the size of an urn is one cubic inch per lb of pet. For instance a 30 cubic inch urn should hold the cremation ash of a pet weighing up to 30 lbs. We have found that not all cremations are the same and sometimes one gets more ash than expected so a little larger urn would be suggested.
Some of our customers prefer to use only a small urn, then spread some of the ash to the wind in the pet's favorite playground. It's like releasing the spirit to the wind.
Our goal is to have satisfied customers. Thanks for visiting our store.
