Adrienne Kernan LaVallee, MFA, BFA
______________
MyMainePaintings, Etsy, is filled with small studies for larger pieces as well as an occasional larger painting from a completed series. My newest work can be found on Instagram, @MyMainePaintings. If you see something that interests you, please contact me here.
I make abstracted and traditional landscape paintings in my she-shed studio nestled into a neighborhood on the shores of Biddeford Pool. We are surrounded by nature, the ever changing colors, light, and energy of the Maine coast. Over the years, life in Maine has become the primary inspiration for my work.
Memories of my observations of the world around me combined with field photographs, gathered objects, sketches and notes are the references I use in my studio. What we see doesn’t always translate into an interesting painting so, like editor, I add and subtract elements to create the final impression.
Oil paint is my favorite medium in part because it remains wet and workable for days. I enjoy the smell of linseed oil, the rich colors and the application of the paint is deeply satisfying to me. I use knives, brushes and sometimes I use my hands to create texture and a feeling of motion and vitality.
If viewers are moved by my paintings and they evoke a special feeling or memory, then I have succeeded.
There were many visitors to my she-shed studio near Biddeford Pool during the Summer of 2022. Now I have moved back into the small private studio inside my home and continue working on a 30”x48” commission. I reopen the summer studio in April 2023 and hope I will see you then.

5 out of 5 starsWhen I look at this sweet painting I can smell the bracing salt air of the Maine coast. Every detail, and there are so many, transports the viewer to that special place of extraordinary beauty that I love and miss. Thank you for the much needed blast of fresh air and space!

5 out of 5 starsWhat a beautiful little jewel! I am very happy with my purchase! I love how Adrienne evokes moonlit clouds with just a few simple brushstrokes. It is very difficult to portray atmospheric luminescence at night. This painting comes alive with that very portrayal! It is beautifully framed and was packed perfectly for shipping! Will definitely look for another painting in her collection to have a pair or a trilogy!

5 out of 5 starsThere was a small problem with this painting as it had already been sold, but was still accidentally listed. Adrienne was able to offer a different painting instead that was beautiful and worked perfectly, though!
