This paper is lively and the colors vary in proportion throughout, which for me is like getting several papers in one. Love it!

I love the colors and pattern, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it up close, for it's finely detailed. So lovely!

Beautiful pattern and detail, and such an unusual, pleasing color combination. I love this paper so much I'm going to frame some of it! Rhonda is delightful to work with, also. 😊

About

Marbling, in excess

I started marbling in 2008, to complement my bookbinding work. After I started marbling, I soon realized that I was producing much more marbled paper than I could use in my own bookbinding projects. Eventually I thought my papers were good enough to sell, and it seemed like that would be a good way to control my supply. Consequently, this little shop was born.

The marbling that I do is traditional Turkish marbling (called Ebru), which is commonly used in bookbinding, particularly as endpapers in old books. Ebru involves floating paints on a thickened liquid surface where the colours can be manipulated into complex patterns. I do some Japanese marbling (called Suminagashi) as well, which involves floating ink on water. It is a more fluid, less controlled style of marbling. My involvement in marbling began several years after I started bookbinding. Bookbinding is my primary craft, and I sell handbound journals here on Etsy as well: http://MyHandboundBooks.Etsy.com

I really enjoy the process of marbling. I have taken classes from two exceptional marblers: Nancy Morains in 2008 and Steve Pittelkow in 2012. This art takes a lot of practice. There are so many variables that can impact the successful creation of a single sheet of paper, that even now, I am impressed with every example of hand-marbling that I see, and every sheet of marbled paper that I produce still amazes me!
