Love them! Just like the pictures.
Crafting since childhood
The first thing I can remember making is a dress for my Barbie when I was six years old. My father bought me some dresses for my dolls at a drive-in theater swap meet in Los Angeles in the late 60s. When we got home I vividly recall turning the dresses inside out to figure out how they were made.
Years later I would make every prom dress I ever wore, even my sister's lace covered wedding dress.
There was the phase where I embroidered anything that was denim, turned twine into macrame, painted with pastels, charcoal, oils, acrylics, and water colors. I made extra money in college decorating cakes.
That probably explains why I always wanted my own gift shop with one-of-a-kind items ... that's what selling on Etsy lets me do.
I have fun making my original Mexican Wedding Favors with Day of the Dead and Loteria themes, painting cartons of egg shells and filling them with hand cut confetti for Easter celebrations or fiestas. I also enjoy folding delicate tissue paper into colorful Mexican Tissue flowers for weddings and parties.
Etsy lets me own that gift shop I've always wanted.
Owner, Designer, Photographer
I'm a journalist by trade, but a lifelong artist of many mediums. Creating to me is like breathing ... something I just have to do to survive.
As sisters we've always been a team in everything we do, now on Etsy I'm always willing to help my sister with her original Mexican wedding favors, Day of the Dead bubbles, and more. Give me glue, images, & glitter and I'm ready to help.
Mom is always offering to help me with any of my orders. Her official title is "match remover". Each tiny matchbox is filled with 50 matches so while she watches her favorite TV shows Mom open all the boxes and takes out the matches for me.
