About

Classic vintage accessories. Handmade and repurposed vintage jewelry.

When I first started my Etsy shop, I was working in an office and was in desperate need of a creative outlet. I've always been an avid thrifter and lover of all things vintage. I decided it could be fun to open up a small vintage shop.

In my adventures hunting for vintage pieces, I came across lots of discarded jewelry that needed a bit of re-doing to give it new life and make it wearable again. I started fixing up my finds and selling repurposed vintage jewelry too. I also began making handmade pieces by imitating old trends with a modern edge. Over time, the shop has evolved into a vintage & handmade boutique. Currently, I teach full-time and spend my evenings and weekends making jewelry; it's the perfect balance.

What I love most about jewelry is that it often carries a story with it. I've noticed that although I tend to discard old clothing, I never give away my own jewelry. Whether it's a necklace I bought for myself to commemorate an important occasion, a gift from a friend, or an heirloom piece- every piece of jewelry evokes a memory.

I love photographing my jewelry as much as I love making it. Photography has been a hobby since I learned to roll and develop my own film. I also sell vintage cameras and photography supplies here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/fisheyevintage

All of my pieces are packaged with care. Thank you for visiting my shop! Your support means the world to me. It allows me to do what I love and to share my designs with others.

XO,
Courtney

Thank you for shopping My So Called Vintage. I love collecting vintage items and do my best to find diamonds in the rough. I sell repurposed vintage jewelry, handmade jewelry, and vintage jewelry. Many of my handmade items use recycled vintage elements, and some are completely new but are vintage-inspired. To avoid potential issues, please read my store policies and the item descriptions before making your purchase.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
You may pay via Etsy's Direct Checkout or via Paypal.

You may still choose to use Paypal as your preferred method of payment. If you select Paypal's "pay later" option, I will not be able to ship out your item until the payment has cleared.

I do not accept checks. I will only ship an item after I've received payment from the buyer. I am not able to "hold" items for a buyer.
Shipping
If you are an international buyer, and your country is not listed under shipping prices, please view "everywhere else," and that will be the price to ship the item, including packaging, shipping, and labor.

****INTERNATIONAL BUYERS, PLEASE READ: Recent international shipping price increases: International shipping prices have more than DOUBLED for delivery to most countries. Shipping to countries outside the US may take anywhere from 3-10 weeks. If it has been longer than 10 weeks since your date of purchase, please contact me. Unfortunately, many countries hold international packages in customs for an unannounced amount of time. There is nothing I am able to do to speed up this process. Sometimes your local post office will charge a customs fee. Buyer will be responsible for such fees.

All items are shipped via Parcel Post with within 5 business days of receipt of payment. Domestic (U.S.) buyers should receive their package within 7-12 days after payment. International shipments may take much longer (between 2-10 weeks, see above). I will ship to the address you have listed. If you have provided me with an incorrect address, the buyer will be responsible for paying for reshipment.

Please contact me through Etsy IN ADVANCE if you have any special instructions, such as expedited shipping. ***Buyer will be responsible for paying expedited shipping costs or extra features, such as signature confirmation, etc. I must receive payment from buyer via Paypal before I will ship the item. I cannot accommodate requests for expedited shipping unless they are made BEFORE you've purchased your item.

Insurance: I do not insure items; however, in order to ensure you get your item, I'd recommend you consider adding shipping insurance in advance. Please send me a convo in advance if you'd like to pay for this. Nearly everything I sell is irreplaceable/one of a kind, and although I've rarely had anything lost or damaged, it can happen. If you choose not to purchase insurance, please understand that I will not be responsible for it once it leaves my hands. If you would like to add insurance, please contact me before you purchase and I'll adjust the listing.

***Please note that the shipping fees I've listed include postage, packing costs, materials and frequent trips to the post office. I try to recycle shipping materials when possible. Shipping materials are expensive, and it is important to me to package your item with care. I also do my shipping from home when possible to save on costs.
Refunds and Exchanges
Because many of my items are vintage (or include vintage elements), they are quite old and often have flaws from years of love. I do my very best to note any major flaws in the items I list in the photos and in the item description. Please read the description carefully, and take the time to look at EACH photo. Check all measurements provided. I will ONLY offer a refund if an item has been largely misrepresented. Returns of this kind will only be accepted within 7 days. If you have a serious issue with a purchase, I would appreciate it if you would contact me before leaving feedback so that I can work to resolve your problem.

Shipping fees will not be refunded and the Buyer will also be responsible for shipping fees on returned items. Money will only be refunded after I receive the item in the same condition, less a $5 processing fee.
Additional policies and FAQs
*I am not able to "reserve" items for people.

*All of my items listed as "handmade" or "upcycled" I made with my own two hands. I have no employees. I am a teacher who runs her Etsy shop from home, and I work very hard to please my loyal Etsy customers! I try to make each item unique. This is the beauty of purchasing an upcycled or handmade piece. I truly appreciate each and every person who supports my shop and want to do my part to support the handmade community.

FAQs:

Q: What is "upcycled"?

A: The term "upcycled" refers to vintage items that have been re-done, re-made, re-vamped, or re-purposed. Anything that is "upcycled" includes one or more vintage elements. Some upcycled items are made with 100% vintage materials that have been combined or re-done. Others have 1 or 2 vintage elements that have been re-vamped with new pieces. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to answer.

Q: Why upcycle?

A: I do it because a) I love making jewelry, b) I love vintage jewelry- so for me it just makes sense. But there are so many other great reasons to buy and sell upcycled vintage jewelry.

1. It's completely unique so it's more likely that you'll find a one-of-a-kind piece.

2. It's eco-friendly. It's always better to recycle and re-use.

3. Sometimes I find a lone earring who has lost her match, or a beautiful pendant that lacks a necklace. Upcycling is the perfect way to make these vintage items reusable.
