About MyerMill

Small shop making topo maps of the National Parks I know and love.

It started with a map of Yosemite. I made it. Loved it and wondered if other people would love it too. Now hundreds of maps later I’m excited that more people love the maps than I ever imagined. So off I set on making more, adding tools and people to make more maps and make them better. This is a real blast and it’s taken over a good pet of my life and my garage but I’m having fun giving people a way to experience the park even if they can’t visit because of COVID or any other reason. Message me if you have any questions or just want to talk shop.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

Yes! I can make just about any area of the world. I just need data. I’ve done some pretty remote areas and I’m always up for the challenge. Let me know what you’re thinking and I can tell if I can do it (hint: the answer will be “yes”). The steeper the topography the more interesting the map will be. I’ve done custom maps of the Tetons, Arizona, Canyonlands, and even Saudi Arabia. Fun.

Sizing details

Why 5x7? I’ve found it’s a really good size that can carry a lot of detail in a small area but still be weighty and feel really good. It also keeps cost down — 7x12 maps are pricey. The 3x5s are a favorite too, tho. People love the price and how small they are. They’re adorable. But they still hold a surprisingly lot of detail but are fun to hold.

Care instructions

Not much to it. Just like any fine wood furniture keep dry and keep away from the sun. If it ever does get dull a little danish or tung oil will get it polished up.

Wholesale availability

Yes. Contact me about wholesale opportunities. I work with several retailers — brick and mortar and online — and happy to strike a deal for volume orders (wedding party gifts) or for your retail shop.

How the heck do you make them? Are they accurate?

That’s two questions but I’ll answer anyway. I use topographic data to make a computer model then I write a machining program that my CNC machine follows to make the map. Then we hand finish. Yeah they’re pretty darn accurate. There might be a chip or hash in the wood but those are cool so I keep them in.
