I've been "Making Book" my whole life.

On my eleventh birthday my parents gave me an old manual typewriter (the very one that my Dad had used in college in the fifties) and a book of poems. The verses were my own: my father had collected my poetry from throughout my elementary years and compiled it into a little book, covered in blue construction paper and bound with three brass fasteners. On the front was a white sticker with a thin red double border. Printed on the sticker beside the typewritten title, “POEMS”, there were three balloons (not brackets, but actual circles) on wavy strings. I have no idea what mid-20th century technology Dad used to produce the balloons, but I do know that it was the first handmade chapbook I had ever seen.

I'm so thankful for the incredible encouragement and support that my parents gave me, both as a writer and an artist. I have been “making book” ever since. On this page you will find a selection of the images and narrative objects that I’ve created, that have not yet been published by someone other than myself. There are comics, chapbooks, posters, greeting cards, even DVD’s, Audio CD’s and tee shirts. All feature my artwork and/or writing (as well as some wonderful music by talented collaborators.)
